I have been scanning in some old family photos -- "old" as in from about 1910-1920.

Here's one I just love, of my grandmother and her younger sister:


The patina on this photograph is just fantastic.

I love the story the picture tells, too. My grandma -- wearing a hair bow almost bigger than her head -- looks less than thrilled with the whole...

I'm used to my 6.5 year old son Quinn coming up with new and interesting ways of looking at the world -- and am constantly amazed by the details he notices.

And much as I'd like to, I have to admit that I don't often know what (or how) he's thinking.

But then there's the really random stuff. For example, here's something he just wrote a few minutes ago:
