I just got home from a blood test, to check for rubella and other stuff like that. See, I was all smug when I told my doctor I'd already had that test, but because I had it done at the bulk-billing place, it held no water with her! That's all right. I am so much better at dealing with these things than I used to be. I closed my eyes and winced a little bit but I didn't feel faint or hyperventilate!

The lady taking the blood was really nice and it was great to actually be able to talk...

I feel like everything's different, amazing, wonderful - and I have a one-track mind - I'm pregnant! Who would've thought, me? Pregnant? Usually exciting stuff like that happens to other people!

I went to my favourite doctor yesterday to confirm my hopes. I don't know if it was just the state I was in, but it seemed as though the magazine I flicked through in the waiting room was about nothing but babies and baby bumps. Bec and Lleyton's decision not to have another baby yet, Brangelina's...

I don't want to get too carried away, but I think maybe I could be, possibly, maybe... pregnant! I peed on a stick earllier, waited two minutes and it came up with a Plus Sign and a Negative Sign - although the vertical bit on the plus sign was faint so I thought, 'Oh bugger'... until I read a part on the instructions that said that it doesn't matter whether the plus sign has one faint line or darker line, it still means the same thing - you're up the duff!!

Okay, so I've had the most disappointing period of my life so far this week. Well, periods are never a hoot, but when you're hoping to concceive, well, then they're even less fun! (Even worse than when it carried on for about two weeks when I was in the States and had to use those dodgy American tampons that come in a box of 500 for like $2.00! The applicator was frightening.)

I was on the pill forever and my period was like clockwork for years. Well now that I'm off it, Aunty Fanny...

Had a glass of white without really thinking about it last night - it's a hard habit to break when you're at a reading night, complete with wine, cheese, writers (including an advocate for lesbians, aborigines, vegetarianism AND dogs) and dusty, beloved books.

Shan't be too hard on myself. My writing buddy thought I was very conscientious indeed, waiting until I've had a month's dose of folate before going off the pill, and getting a blood test done to make sure I haven't got rubella....
