AFTER I successfully login, all my desktop folders are DISSAPEARED, except for the shortcuts to different programs.

what should I do? Is it a virus? malware? spyware? trojan? what program to get?

I reinstalled my PC discs to clean it up. When I went to my favorites, my automatic log in and password name were gone. 1) If I go to a previous installation date, would the passwords be back? 2) How do I get Windows to remember my passwords? Every time I go to a site, it doesn't ask me to remember. I had them copied on a CD, but when I use the CD, there is no automatic log in.
