Icon9 Well Caleb has Bronchiolitis

Yesterday morning it looked like he was getting worse, He had like a crackley sound in his chest. I rang dh and I told him I think caleb has Bronchiolitis. I told dh I was taking him to the doctors.

Got caleb dressed took him down. Doctor checked him out. His ears looked good, throat looked good. Then Caleb started crying. she checked his chest and couldnt hear anything.

I told her I think he has Bronchiolitis cos of the sounds I could hear in is chest as well as other symptoms,Then she goes.. I think his chest sounds good and the sounds you are hearing are coming from his nose.

I looked at her really weird, I wasn't satisfied with the diagnose. I kepted persisting for her to check his chest again and I was sure it was coming from his chest, I got him to stop crying. Then she said yes I can hear something in his chest, it does sound like he has Bronchiolitis, and with all the other symptoms as well. High fever and the coughing that came with it.

Then she said cos its a viral infection I cant give him anything for it.

I was thinking why did I waste my time in coming, I diagnosed this myself at home and only to come here thinking they could give him something for it, Only to learn they cant!!!!

Im so tired of going to the doctors and always knowing what I think is wrong with them, , paying the $50 for NOTHING then only to being told they cant give him/them anything for it I went there thinking they could do something for him/them.

Later on at night Caleb's fever started to get really high. so I just put vinegar over his head and his body. Specially since the panadol wasn't doing anything to get it down. And it went down pretty good. Thank God for vinegar.

His looking abit better today. I just cant wait till he is better.

Sorry I wrote so much, Thank you if you got this far

Wouldn't breathing treatments help? I'd call back and ask b/c my son, Josh, had bronchiolitis and the breathing treatments helped almost immediately.

Hope he feels better soon....That is what Aynsley had when she was 5 weeks - that with RSV - so it scares me - keep an eye on him....the breathing thing is SO scary. Your Dr's visit sounds like the ones I had - numerous ones until she was very very ill, they figure that mums are overreacting BUT you know your child better than anyone.
It is a virus, so they can't do anything drug wise, but if he is retracting in his chest, or at his trachea, wheezing or struggling to breathe take him to Emergency. He is still little Breathing treatments may help if he isn;t getting any better. Depends on the Dr but doesn't hurt to ask.

How is he doing today?

Breathing treatments typically are some sort of steroid I think....it helps open up the airways. Never had one done with any of my kids, but my neice has had them as she was a preemie and her ped suggested it would help when she had a yucky cold. Also kids with Asthma are inclined to get it.

He dosen't get a fever anymore thank God. His doing much better. Sleeping heaps. He still has abit of a cough, and the funny things is, when he was sicker he was still such a happy baby. My poor little guy.

We dont do Breathing treatments here, Not that I know about anyway. But thanks for asking about him
