I definaitly agree it shouldn't be ok for one partner and not the other and everyone one needs time now and then for themselves and friends but not going to clubs getting wasted every weekend.

I have/do know people like that. I do look forward to my nights out, but it is once a month with Moms Club and once in a while just dh and I. We are going to start trying to do a date night once a month. I love my kids, but I do find we are becoming just parents and not a married couple. No fighting or anything, just kids stuff.

Carissa, I feel the same way....dh and I are almost at the complete opposite end of the scale parent wise, we hardly EVER get out, and if and when we do these days we always have Aynsley.

A few weeks ago I went over to visit my parents and had some errands to do so we all stayed with my parents and then I left the boys for a few days....it was AWESOME! ( they live about 3 hours and a ferry ride away )
I completely do let the boys go off for a few days now and then with grandparents, but by no means am I ( or dh ) out partying....I have been preggo or nursing for over 5 years straight there is no partying going on - believe me AND I have never been a huge partier ( unless you count being 16 )

Anyways, I guess maybe me "ditching " my kids for a few days now and then is selfish, but I enjoy the time as do my parents ( and my boys )

Michelle~ I don't think you are selfish at all. You do have 3 small ones and I know it it must be hard. I recall Joe and sam being 20 months apart, it was a lot of work.

My exMIL used to beg for the kids to spend the weekend and come over during the week. I guess it was a bad habit I picked up in the sense of not feeling comfortable about others taking care of my kids. My mom had 4 of us and she never let us sleep out or be taken care of by anyone other then herself, with that said- she always tells me I need time for myself. I remind her she was the same, but she swears it was differnt..lol How so I don't know..lol Plus DH is like I and he does not want anyone taking care of AJ other then ourselves. In my situation I feel I am 31 and in 5 years I will be only 36, he will be in school then and I will have plenty of me time!

Thats like me,, Im alway with the kids, so is dh when he is home. But dh does give me time to go shopping like on Friday night, Saturday, Sundays if I want. While he minds them. I usually take the 2 older girls with me.

But I dont go club, I wouldnt even if I could, Im not that type of person. I have had offer for people to mind the kids to have time alone, but I never took them up on it.

I am very bothered by these kind of parents, let alone mothers. I know a few people who feel entitlement to having their own lives. Thay have no problem with leaviung their kids all weekend long to go out and get sloshed. I know we all need "our own time", which at the current moment I have chosen to make my family, children and husband my full time commitment. It makes me happy to fulfill my role as amother and wife. I mean to eaches own, but my thing is how is it possible to work and then go out and live your own life all weekend and possibly be a parent?
People who do stuff like "that"will pay for it when the kids grow up. I believe in what you sow is what you reap.
