apple juice question
so i know some of you are giving your lo's fruit juice to help w/the consitpation. libby sometimes has very hard poops that are difficult for her to get out, and before she "goes" she won't eat b/c i guess her tummy is too full or she's in pain. so, i was thinking of trying some apples juice to help move things along.
so, i tried it tonight and she wanted NOTHING to do w/it at all!! i even diluted it and still nothing! is your juice sweetened?? this was just pure pasteurized apple juice.
i really hope this doesn't mean we're going to have a picky eater.; the look on her face was priceless though!!

Re: apple juice question
Our Ped allowed us to use Motts and Welches Juice diluted with water.
AJ doesn't care for the juice. I would try Glycerin Supps made for Infants. The GI said this was better then any other method, and they don't like juices because it is empty calories for babies. I have decided not to give AJ juice all together, but I have in the past wiht all my kids. I opted to now just feed him his fruits. Hope Libby feels better, also constipation can make a babies reflux worse.

Re: apple juice question
I added the apple juice to her formula bottle. She loved that! I can't give any juice as it comes right back up b/c her reflux.

Re: apple juice question
Gerber makes an Apple Prune that acutally is pretty good. Adam loved it. Megan has had it once and loved it. If not that, I would just try regular old prune juice. About 1oz juice and 1oz water to start. You could also try just some water. Sometimes that helps get things going. I wouldn't giver her anything unless they are painful though. They strain all the time, but that is normal. Also, some formation is normal at this age.

Re: apple juice question
If you go the juice route, apple isn;t one for constipation really, prune juice diluted 1 to 1 oz. Pear may work and is lower on the allergen scale too
Maybe even the white grape?

Re: apple juice question
My doctor said yesterday that any of the Gerber juices are fine. It's the sugar that helps break down the poops. He suggested the apple prune. Lily loves it, but she also loved the pear.
Actually he said any of the "p" fruits help with constipation.
