Icon4 Hair Straightening

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on getting my hair chemically straightened. Like how much it runs, how long it lasts, etc.?? I have curly/wavy, frizzy hair and I straighten it myself all the time and would love to be able to just wash it and let it air dry with no curls and frizz free!!

Thank you!!

Hi Jessica,

My experience as a hair stylist has been that strengtheners usually do not allow hair to dry naturally straight without any work. You would still need to flat iron your hair but the process would be faster. The other thing is getting someone professional to apply the straightener and not chance doing a home job. The success of getting a great relaxer on your hair is...

The condition of your hair
If you have applied color or natural color
The quality of the relaxer
And ... the expertise and honesty of the stylist doing the relaxing

If any of these are an issue ... back off from the idea.

There are ways to get rid of frizz in any climate, even the highest humidity. To find out more watch this video link:

Some useful advice on hair straightening is available at many sites like Hair Straightening, Chemical, Japanese, Flat Iron Hair Straightening. make sure you read all the pros and cons before using any product. Don’t treat your hair to harsh chemicals like hair color or perms and straightening solutions. This tends to deteriorate the quality of hair and makes it all the more weak and thin. So be happy with your natural hair and try to make it healthy for that gorgeous shine!

Thank you for the feed back! I'll make sure to check out all the websites and read up on the pros and cons, because I really don't want to damage my hair then it already is! My mom and aunt used to do at home perms on me when I was little and now my hair is just a big mess! But I like it straight then curly, so I'm open to anything and I'm willing to try any products that will help!

Thanks again!

I have tried chemical straightening and I think it helps but I still had to use a flat iron and other methods to keep it looking smooth and shiny.

You will definitely want to have your hair handled by experts. I know several peopl ewho tried to chemically straighten their own hair, and the outcome was not very impressive. Also, check the quality of the straightener the salons use before you agree to leave your hair under their care. Good luck!

I have really curly/frizzy hair and I have had my hair chemically straightened, it was a few years ago, I dont think the solution was right, It basically just killed my hair, and the colour, I would get it done again, preferably by a stylist who actually had used the product before and knew what they were doing...Let me know how it went if you get/had it done x
