She Knows!!! HOW DARE YOU put the ridiculous seal hunt ad at the top of your board!!! This is a predominantly AMERICAN board and this is a CANADINA issue.. And by the looks of that RIDICULOUS AD... These jerk offs don't know anything about the issue either!! To me.. I see this is a direct attack at not only something I support.. But it's making Canadians out to be drunken jerks who go around beating cute fluffy white critters to death w/ a bat for the hell of it.
How about you educate yourself before allowing anyone to advertise w/ an untrue smear campain like that on your board! I have family on the east coast who's livelyhood DEPEND on the sealing industry.. THIS IS MY ISSUE!!!! NOT YOURS!!! And by NO MEANS an issue for 90% of readers of this board! I can't even tell you how insulting this is! I wish I had words to describe this to you! But I'm so furious I can't think straight!
Here are some facts on the Seal hunt that this ad you so easily endorsed forgot to tell you.....
1st -clubs are not used now... Historically yes but now that sealing is a regulated industry now. So the clips of the white doe eyes fuzzies being beaten w/ a bat are extremely passe... And if it does happen... you can't controle every *** hole on the planet. But if you think about it... How lucrative is it manually beat and maim 50 ADULT seals in order to turn a decent proffit (I say good luck to you when you try, they bite and they are bigger than you

)
2nd- Infant seals or white coats... Are not hunted and have not been for a very long time. It is illegal now and not someting you wanna get caught doing, trust me.
3rd- Seals are not caught for sport. IT is to supplement the dwindling income of Atlantic cod fishermen.
4th-The only seals that are legally hunted are not endangered in the least.
Here are some facts about sealing in Atlantic Canada....
Despite the common misconception that the Atlantic Canadian seal fishery is destroying Harp and Hood seal populations, the truth is that only about approximately 57,000 seals were fished each year between 1983 and 1994. This is an insignificant percentage of the entire Harp and Hood seal population in the North Atlantic.
The Terra Nova Green Party wants the whole of the harvested animal "utilized". The Terra Nova Green Party supports a government subsidy for landsmen "Swilers" on the provision that the whole of the carcass is utilized. The Terra Nova Green Party advocates the support of development of pharmaceutical, nutritional and other markets for seal oil.
there are many different species of seals in the North Atlantic. Harbour seals are endangered. There are only about 6000 of them left in the world. However, it is illegal to fishery Harbour seals. In contrast, there are millions of Gray Harp and Hooded seals. These animals are not endangered.
There is scientific evidence that Harp seal populations are increasing. In 1990, the scientists estimated that there were approximately 3 million seals. Today it is estimated that there is well in excess of 6 million Harp and Hood seals in and around the waters of Newfoundland.
the death of any animal is a sad, gruesome and messy business, in this the Harp and Hood seal fisheries are no different. Although the seal fishery may be ugly to watch, it is not inhumane, per se
