How long to cut first teeth
How long did teething the first teeth last for you? I've had a pretty ok time with my kids teething and although I know there were moments of irritability, etc, it wasn't too bad. Isaac has no teeth and I've been thinking that he must be teething for the last 2 weeks because he is biting everything (including me) and SUPER irritable. His already terrible sleep issues are way magnified and although I hate to give drugs unless I know they need them, Tylenol has helped him sleep, I think (either that or I finally give it to him when he's about to conk out anyway...). I feel nothing in there and that irritates me because I really need this irritability and lack of sleep to end!
So, I am curious how long the process seemed for other littles (days, weeks...)

Re: How long to cut first teeth
I looked in Bella's mouth and there was a tooth! There was nothing that made me think she would be getting one immediately. It just showed up.

Re: How long to cut first teeth
Emma's on her 6th, so I can't remember exactly. I will say none of her teeth have given us big problems. This last one I think is causing her not to feel good, but I am not sure. Her first two teeth came in together and if I remember correctly she was slobbering and chewing on everything for weeks. THen they just popped out one day!

Re: How long to cut first teeth
It is lasting forever here. Caitlyn still has no teeth but there have been 2 just hovering under her gums for weeks now. They are so close to popping through but just won't. She has been a beast. She is normally pretty fercocious but lately I am ready to run out the door by 9 AM!

Re: How long to cut first teeth
I can relate to wanting to run out the door. Isaac had ONE 1/2 hour nap today. That is it. After 2 hours of sleep tonight, he woke up nursed, TWICE in the midst of screaming and I finally gave up and he is playing on the floor and I have no idea if I will get to sleep any time soon. On top of the last few impossible nights with little sleep, I am shot. We are supposed to stay at a hotel this weekend and take the kids to the zoo and honestly, I have no idea how it will go or how tomorrow night will be in the hotel room with him. I am SO done!

Re: How long to cut first teeth
rei had a totally juicy mouth from about 2 months till about a month before her two bottom teeth broke through. not sure if there was a correlation. no dribbling now though.
i've never seen a direct correlation between behavior and teething in any of my children. maybe i'm dumb...lolol
rei got the two bottom ones at about 6 months, both at the same time. now, a couple of days ago, i noticed one of the top teeth has popped through. i have never noticed any swelling of her gums or any indication it was coming.
i know it's tough when a baby won't sleep well or seem irritable. we are always dealing with sleep issues over here too. it's awful. i would be a much happier momma if i could just get a good night sleep every other night even. i just don't know for sure if your lo's sleep issues are definitely because of teething.
wish i could help more. good luck

Re: How long to cut first teeth
We don't have any teeth yet but Josh is always chewing on things but has been doing that forever. I don't see any coming in but he has had random bouts of extreme fussiness lately..LOL

Re: How long to cut first teeth
I have slow teethers and my first, Ella was the worst. It can easily take weeks upon seeing that sliver of white below the gum lines for the tooth to actually break through. Poor Maeve had the 'Houdini' tooth. It would pop through, go back. Week later, pop through then go back... etc. etc. it was horrible. Overall Maeve is a pretty good teether but Ella did not take it well. I had to use motrin and teething tablets quite a bit with her. She didn't get better with teething until her 2 year old molars came through - those weren't bad.
Maeve has been drooling and chewing like crazy for three weeks now.... I am guessing top two are working their way down but I don't see anything yet. I am sure it will be yet another looooonnng drawn out process.
