Anyone have experience with basal cell carcinoma with tumor cells?
DH got the confirmation today that is what his biopsied showed. He's one of those guys with freckles and moles anyway, so I always begged for him to go to a derm. Well a doc friend of his took a look at this "thing" on his temple area and told him to go right in. So he did. (Couldn't listen to me though :p ) Anyway, he has basal cell carcinoma with tumor cells. He's having surgery on it a week from Monday. Then we'll kind of find out how deep it is. From what I have read, it seems disfigurement is his biggest cause for worry, not spreading to other organs although it can get into the bone.
My main worry is that if you get this, you are more likely to get melanoma which is the bad skin cancer that often metz to hard to reach places in the body. I have just had two babies with this man and I am scared for him. And he's scared.
We live in cali and in Fresno at that where the sun can be brutal. I've read stay out of the sun and if you "have" to go out in it, to wear sunblock and a hat. Well, Tim hikes, takes his convertible out and is totally an outdoorsy guy. I'm thinking we should move to a cooler less sunfilled climate. I don't know, just worried. Any input would be great.
Oh and dont' mention on FB. My stepson is on my friends list.
