Default iPhone pitches

Hi everyone,

My teens were begging me to help fund (read: buy) their dreams of having an iPhone, and so they went on a rolling pitch, lining up a huge list of features and why we should all have iPhones and be better human beings for them. One of the key features was how it could access the internet and google maps and how we’d never get lost again (never ever!!).

I told them to stuff the bs (not in those words ) and grab the directions from 1800free411 or print it off the computer, we didn’t have the money for it. Of course there was pouting, and that’s natural, but I’m wondering if I shouldn’t think about getting them better phones in the future. I don't think they absolutely need new phones, but what do you think?

Hello & Welcome! We need more single moms over here to make this board more active. Usually we start with an introduction....Im Sarah single mom to Soloman (almost 15) and my twins Karsen & Sinclair will be 6 in Sept.

As for your iphone issue....it all depends. For my teen iphone is not an option. We have sprint and I'm not changing plans. I believe you have to have AT&T. If you already have that plan and they need a new phone....i would probably consider it. I read the other day they are lowering the price of the iPhone and will have a $199 model out very soon (if not already). I know that you have to pay an additional $25 or $30 a month for the multimedia package so you do have to take that into consideration and if you have more than one teen you will have to times that by 2 or 3. You also could wait until their birthdays and give it as a present. My son has several friends with the iphone and my son said that many of them have problems with the service. Well good luck with your decision.

How old are your kids? If they are willing to help pay for the plan as well as the phone then maybe the deal would be more appealing. I also have friends who have the phone and they all say it is very sensitive. If anything it is a good way to get them to work for it and you can get something out of it as well.
