Icon4 Quick ? for moms of boys! (xpost)

So I thought I'd ask this here too:

How can we avoid diaper leaking? Jackson has had major leaking issues the last few days. We went through 4 outfits the other day and two overnight last night. His overnight wet throughs are waking him up! Harper has not had the same issues which I'm guessing may be related to anatomy!

At first I thought it was the BRU diapers, but now he's been consistently leaking through the Huggie's Snug and Dry and Pampers too. My kids are almost 9 pounds and are recently in size 1 diapers.

So I guess my question is: Is there something special I should be doing (folding? pointing? anything?) to avoid the leaking? HELP!!!

Where is the diaper leaking? Out the top or bottom? Our doctor told us to point his penis down when we diaper him...with Caleb there really isn't much to point. Poor kid. We're hoping he's a grower, not a shower, KWIM? Anyway, give that a try.
I wonder if it could be how tightly you fasten them too.

With Austin we had to try a few different brands and it turned out Luvs was the best with the leaks!

Usually I found my sons diaper leaking when he needed the next size up. I found Pampers worked best for my DS. Mostly I found out by trial and error.

We too had problems with Mason's diaper leaking. We used disposables and found only one brand in Australia was absorbent enough - Huggies - the most expensive of course! We also found that as he got bigger the worst leaking occured when he was ready to go up a size. Also we had to make sure the tabs were firm enough and that his wee little fella, was pointing down. Most of the leaking came up the top-front. We ended up double diapering at night, with a pair of terry-toweling "trainer pants" on top - even then his sleeper would be damp in the morning.

Welcome to the world of boys and wet clothing/bedding!!

Mason seems to have an enormous volume of wee. He still wears a pull-up night-time diaper thingie at night and we learnt long ago, to make up his bed in layers for easy stripping (and no need to re-make should he leak and wake during the night - just take off two layers) : mattress protector, followed by waterproof sheet, normal fitted bedsheet, another waterproof sheet, normal fitted bedsheet. We now have one of those bedwetting pads on top of his sheet - it's wonderful as tucks in just across the middle of his bed and is quilted cotton on top and waterproof underneath- it's meant to draw the moisture away.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Yes- it's leaking out the top side!!

Jenn- So far, Jack seems to have a TON of pee too.

Last night we tried wee-wee down. We also used the Pampers because they seem bigger at the size 1. We didn't have any leaks!! Horray! Harper seems fine

Do you/did you fold the top part down?

Glad you had no leaking last night.

No we didn't fold down. Assuming our nappies are the same as your diapers....

Definitely point his little penis down! We found that we preferred Pampers to Huggies because of leaking issues with Huggies. Good luck!
