Okay- I posted this on my Born in board, but thought I'd ask you guys too...
So we haven't allowed our kids to have anything in their cribs so far except for the paci (that they don't actually suck on anymore- they just sometimes hold and play with- that and throw it out of the crib). We've always been paranoid of the SIDS risks and are doing everything to avoid any catastrophes. So we've been waiting until a year to do any kind of a blanket.
I guess my issue is that it's pretty cold now and the babies' room is the coldest room in the house.

We keep the temperature at 70-71 overnight and they sleep in the fleecy blanket sleepers so I think they've been okay, but at some point I'd like to turn the heat down a little at night. DP keeps complaining that she wakes up sweating!
Do the SIDS risks go down when they are a year? We're thinking of a lightweight waffle type blanket, very breathable. Are lots of you already doing blankets? Are we being overly cautious? (I'm still waiting until the day they turn one- isn't that silly?)
Lots of people I know let their kids sleep with blankets in the first year, and if you watch A Baby Story on TLC you ALWAYS see these bassinets with like 5 blankets in them when the baby first comes home!!
