What are you doing......
or going to do to make the wait time pass faster??
I know that it will move as slow as molasses some days so I am trying to be proactive in keeping busy. Here is my plan:
1. Clean out the storage downstairs and either donate it or sell on Ebay whatever I don't need.
2. Start finishing off the office downstairs for my DH's office.
3. I am thinking of getting another very PT job just from Sept. to December. A couple more days a week of work wouldn't kill me and the extra money would be nice. (I only work 9 hours a week now.)
4. Once we get the referral, DECORATE DECORATE DECORATE!! I am thinking if we get a boy (or twin boys) that I will do monkey's in the nursery.
5. Keep trying to lose this weight! More exercise will help. Smitty - I am proud of you for being so close to your goal. I am honestly stuck at this 5 lb mark. I am lucky that I am so tall, because I do carry it okay, but I would like to be thin again....sigh.
I am sure I have a lot more that I can do, but that is all I can think of now.
What are all the rest of you doing to keep busy during this crazy waiting game??
Hugs,
Nicole

Re: What are you doing......
hi Nicole
Fortunately, I am done waiting but in the 18 months we did have to wait, we did most of what you are doing...I have lost weight, we cleaned out our basment and I learned out to sell stuff on ebay.
In addition, we traveled alot! We knew once we received our child, we would be on a budget for awhile! So we went to New York City last September for a week and saw everything. It was awesome and also took our mind off things. We also did alot of 3 day weekends to nearby cities like KC, Minneapolis, Omaha, and Chicago.
The only advice or suggestions I have is to read up as much as you can on adoption and a guide to the babies first year. I was so focused on keeping my mind off of the waiting that Alex came and I was a very unprepared parent!!

Re: What are you doing......
I don't know! I've been going crazy here waiting for our next baby and it's only been a coupla weeks! How in the world do you ladies do months of this waiting??!
We did buy a new house and we've been incredibly overwhelmed with getting our current house ready to sell. My sister and niece were here for a week so that helped. I still have a ton of stuff to do with the house but every time the phone rings I'm SOOO hoping it's the "call."
We have to wait until August 27 for Lilly's next court date and it is making me a bit loony waiting. I watch her sleeping at night and I wonder and worry if she'll stay with us. I watch her crawling around like a maniac all day and I wonder and worry if she'll stay with us. I watch her learn to play with my DD and I wonder and worry if she'll stay with us. I guess I should just be grateful that she is actually HERE with us. But this worrying about her staying stuff is really not fun.
I hope everyone's wait flies by! Congratulations on finding such great stuff to do while you wait ladies!

Re: What are you doing......
The waiting is the hardest part really...
Marian- I didn't know you guys bought a new house..Congratulations!!! Will it be close to your current home?
Good Luck with selling I haven't had to sell a home yet but I have bought a few. Well the first home I bought had a massive flood in the neighborhood and the state of Delaware bought us out so I sold it but it was just different then the way you are selling. Anyway enough remabling....good luck!
What we do while we are waiting...
Well I have painted our kitchen, the front bedroom, and front bathroom. I planted over 100 plants this year, I constantly clean out our closest so I can send stuff to goodwill. Once we accept a referral I will do the babies room and then I will have officially literally repainted ever single room in the house. I am currently staining our porch.
We also plan lots of weekend getaways to the beach area or we take day drives into the mountains which is always fun. This weekend we are going to one of the local state parks to rent a boat and go fishing for the day.
I try to read alot adoption and for fun books just to keep my mind busy oh and we are into netflix so we watch a lot of videos.
Ok now that i have written a book...sorry...I'll stop

Re: What are you doing......
Nicole: I lost about 12 lbs to do IVF and gained about 8 lbs back since, grr!!! I am tall too, about 5'8".
Hmm, as for waiting, I've become a pro! I've already started thinking of all the things I'll do to bid my time.
I'm just starting to prepare the house for the homestudy (ok, ok we still need to get our pre-app and Ohio app in....). But, I need to get this house in shape! I started going through our kitchen "junk drawers" and just tossing lots of, well junk!~
Once the HS is done, I am definitely going to start preparing a nursery. I want to refinish the floors in there, tear down the wallpaper and all that jazz. I love home projects, so I'm most excited about that.
I like the traveling suggestion too! Even if you can't afford to go to somewhere tropical (like us), we like to just take weekend trips close by, stay with friends, just do the things we know we won't be able to do once that little one comes.
Anyone have suggested adoption reading? I am going to do some research and see what I can find.

Re: What are you doing......
Marian- I was thinking about your family last night and just thinking how incredibily hard it must be waiting for that aug. 27th court date. I just want you to know that your family is in my prayers every night. I hope in the midst of all the worry you are still able to enjoy every minute with Lilly.

Re: What are you doing......
So far we moved all the furniture out of the room that is to be the nursery and put it in the spare bedroom, painted the spare bedroom, put border up, got matching comforters, hung pictures up in the spare bedroom. Then we set the crib up in the nursery, brought in the rocker and night stand, moved the dresser set up the pack n play, washed all the onesies and sleepers and sheets we have. I have also been working on cross stitch projects to hang in the nursery, I've gotten 2 done, working on the 3rd and then have one more. I've also gone on a few mini vactions, planted flowers outside, exercised a lot, read some adoption books. Next is making fleece tie blankets for baby.

Re: What are you doing......
Kristine!
You are just the best. And yes, the worrying and waiting is horrible, but I do enjoy her. And sometimes I think I enjoy her even more so for the lack of knowing how long she'll be with us. KWIM?
No matter what happens, we are blessed to have her and love her so very much.
