Icon7 Updates and rambling...

Well I will try and have this make sense I have so much to catch up on and since I really haven't been online in like a month we'll I just want to babble along.

So the PC finally came in and I have to say I just LOVE IT!!! It's fast, it's pretty and it works!!!!

Adoption Updates:
We'll you remember we had turned down a baby and then they offered a second baby but it was just to soon for us so we said give us some time we'll our friends have excepted a referral for the second baby they will travel in October I am so excited for them.

Then we went from like number one of the waiting list to number 4 because a bunch of people who had been waiting for girls came over to the waiting for boys side and they had paperwork in before us so that bumped us back some we'll they have all been referred children and we are back at number one so I guess it could be any day now and I have to say we are so stinkin excited. After having to turn down the first referral we had really lost that gleam in our eyes when we talked about adoption but after letting our hearts start to heal these last three months I think we are really ready and excited again to bring a baby home and smoother it with all of our love and attention we have to give!!!

I have been doing alot of home projects like staining the porch outside and I am replacing the tile floor infront of the fireplace in the living room and cleaning out closets just all kinds of stuff. We spent so much time at the beach this year we are thinking we might get a second home there, it was such a livesaver to have a place to escape to this year that I just can't imagine not having a place there.

I'm not sure if anyone subscribes to Adoptive Families magazine but if not you might want to consider it. I subscribed and I have to say this months issue is great, it talks about creating an adoption friendly classroom, when children are asked to do the family tree for class how to incorporate both families birth and forever family, it talks about surviving a declined referral, Post adoption depression, heritage activities- how to know when enough is enough and the list goes on. It just has some really good articles this month, if anyone is interested in any of the articles let me know and I will try and scan them and send them to you.

Ok I think I rambled enough, fill me in on what you all have been doing!

Kristine

Doesn't summer just fly by? I am glad you are back online. It has sure been slow around here without you prodding all of us.

Enjoy your new laptop and all your home projects.

School is starting here and "K" is all enrolled for 3K starting in January. I can't beleive she's going to school. We stopped our domestic adoption for now. It seems that there are three books around here that you could be put into once you get to the top of the list. They are 1. Families with no children, 2. Families with one boy, Families with one girl (that's us) and the waiting list to get into that book is anywhere from 3-7 years as most choose to go with the first option. We checked into a few differant agencies in our area and it's all the same. So even if we got in right away and were chosen right away "K" would still be over 7 years old. We are checking into foster parenting now but they don't do foster-adoptions here either. I just don't understand how there can be so many children without families and so many parents without children and nobody can figure out a better way to put them together!!!

Kristine, Good to hear you are back #1! I'm so excited for your next referral.

And Chrissy, I could not agree more. What in the world is wrong with this world that we cannot put the two together? I think it's going to be my life's mission to see foster care/adoption reform in my state. We just had a HUGE re-do about three years ago and it changed and/or left out some very important issues. Last night I spent the whole night reading the reform and all of the children's statutes in our state. Talk about bleary eyed...

Okay I'll get off my
