Icon11 Ugh...I am a little disappointed with Borders

book store.
So I went to Border's today in hopes to pick up some adoption books. Well I go there and find the adoption section which was half of a shelf and only had about 10 books- I AM SO MAD- They said I could order the books I wanted and they would arrive in about 7 days...but some of the books I wanted to take a quick look on the inside of them before purchasing. So needless to say I didn't get any of the books and and the half of a shelf was all the way on the bottom and kind of behinf a big old support pole. In my area we have a huge community of adopted children I just don't understand why it would be so under stocked. I am thinking about writing the borders head quaters and sending somethin to the local border's manager. I just feel like there should be a larger selection then that. It made me feel very alone in a world were I know there are others like me.

On the good side though I bought the Foder's - See It Vietnam book. It is so awesome. I would highly recommend this for anyone planning on traveling there.

I hope you write them!!
The percentage of the population that is involved in adoption is huge, so you'd think their selection would reflect that.

If you do write, and they write back, please let us know what they say!

That is frustrating! Hope they get their act together and add some more.

I had the same thing happen with me at Barnes and Noble. I did find a few good books but there wasn't that many and they were lumped right in the middle of all the pregnancy books which I thought wasn't the best place for them. Maybe in the parenting and family section. I don't know. Most of the books I've bought I've ordered from Amazon or got from my library but they had to be transfered from other libraries from all over our county. I too was very disappointed with them.

I remember several years ago our book store (think it was Borders) had the adoption books in with the other "special needs" books. So they were things like Parenting Your ADHD Child, Parenting the Special Needs Child; Adoption for Dummies. So adoption and "special needs" sort of just go together, I guess.

I still have a few books that I don't read....what are you looking for? I do recommend "Parenting the Hurt Child" for adopting older children; I didn't read "Parenting the Adopted Child" but think it would probably be very good as well. Let me know!

Ahh, that is a shame...no wonder people are so scared to adopt these days. I was looking for Adoption Wisdom and The Night I was born in Vietnam I may just have to order them and then if they aren't really what I want I'll see if they will let me return them. It's just crazy.

Thanks ladies for understanding I knew you would.
