Icon13 Trouble Sleeping

Ahh, I think I am developing insomnia or something.

The past couple of weeks if I wake up in the middle of the night I can not fall back asleep. L wakes up every single night at pretty much the exact same time and it usually involves waking up most of the house so last night it is 2:30AM and I am woken up by all noise going on. Well now I can't fall back asleep so i get up and go to the living room thinking I'll do some reading and fall asleep real fast. Well i think I finally fell back asleep around 4:30 and had to get up at 6. YUCK!!!! I try so hard to sleep past 6:30 in the morning but my little internal clock goes off and I am up and ready to go. Well my mind is ready my body on the other hand just wants to lay there. I swear the baby is going to come and I'll be up before she is.

I hate being so restless at night but the second my eyes open the mind just races and races and it is so hard to turn that off. Do any of you deal with this? How do you function during the day I just feel like I'm in a haze.

Tonight I might slip L a sleeping pill so there is no wake up in the middle of the night and I get a full nights sleep.

K, when I have a lot of things on my mind I tend to get restless at night to. Sometimes I'm lying in bed making a mental list of all the things I have to do the next day and before I know it I'm no longer sleepy. What I do now is I keep an over the counter sleep aid in our medicine cabinet (which is double locked, required by our agency) and as soon as I feel my mind running ramped I'll take one and within 30 minutes I'm sleeping like a baby!

Aw poor K - I also wake up and have a hard time going back to sleep not a go combo with a baby that likes to wake up every 2-3 hours! I usually get up and start working and try to take a nap if Mr. Rhett decides to take a nap that day - otherwise I'm force to be a zommy! The positive side is I completed 6 hours worth of work in 2 hours this morning! Just think soon you will have a baby keeping you company in the middle of the night!! I hope you get some zzzzz's soon!

Oh me. I am doing the same thing! Livi usually wakes up between 2:30 and 3:30 to eat. And she goes back to sleep and I'm just left there aWaKe! Today I was awake until about 5:30 when DH got up for work. I slept for about an hour and then Olivia was awake again.

I drive myself crazy by not being able to shut up my mind in the middle of the night. Actually sometimes I do that in the middle of the day too but that's another thread...

I do occasionally take a sleep aid or something like a xanax or something but neither of these things does any good to keep me asleep.

So, anyway, I guess what I am saying is that you are not alone in your sleeplessness.

I hope L can stay asleep so you can too!

When I stress out, I drink more coffee, the more coffee I have, the longer my mind races at night. So, when I get stressed now-a-days, I do half-caffs or tea. It took me awhile to figure that one out.

well I have been dealing with insomnia for 18 years...so IKWYM!...what really works for me is using ear plugs, it relaxed me!...and when that doesn't work and I haven't sleep in couple days I take some advil PM...I used to take Ambien but I was way hooked up that I had to go cold turkey on that!
