Icon12 O/T-What's going on in your world...

So it seems like alot of us are in the waiting part of things with adoption so I thought we could just chit chat a little bit.

I was telling L last night, I feel like ever since we handed in all our paperwork and we aren't running around trying to get papers signed and stuff that time is just crawling buy...this is could be a very long wait for me. :smile

But the weather has been so nice we have had 70+ degree weather the last couple of days and I have been out in the yard cleaning out the flower beds and getting my garden ready all the things that help make spring/summer so much fun. I can't wait until all the tulips and daisies start to bloom.

I also went in for a LASIK eye surgery consultation yesterday so I will be having that surgery done on April 20th. I am so excited I have worn glasses for way to long now.

So that means I need to get the ceiling in my living room painted before then. Mabe I'll start that on monday. Our christmas tree was so big and it scratched it, so L being the reactive person that L is made me get the magic sponge out which pretty much took off all the celing paint in that area. So now we have a big round grey spot on the celing. Which i tried to paint white to match the rest of the ceiling but now it is bright white in that spot so now I have to paint the whole stinkin ceiling. I hate painting ceilings so this will be complete torture for me.

Other then that just plugging along and hoping I don't lose my mind with the weight.

What's going on with you all?? Inquiring Minds want to know!!!

Not much happening here either. Just counting the days until Lilly's initial severance court date, which is June 14. How in the world am I suppose to wait that long???

Lilly had her 6-month check up today. Poor thing had to get two shots and a blood draw that the stupid techs messed up and stuck her twice without getting blood! Now we have to go back. This is so not fun. Other than that, the doc said she's doing terrific! Yea.

Avery has started letter recognition and started writing her letters and numbers this week. It's pretty cute to see little E's and know that they are really 3's.

It is REALLY spring here. It's in the 80's and will be in the 90's by Saturday. I am waiting for my DH to get more dirt in my gardens before I plant but I am already way behind. Orange tree has a ton of blossoms. I've been putting away all of the girls winter clothes. It's fun to get out the shorts again! Gotta get our cooler up and working as it's getting pretty warm in the house by afternoon.

Melissa I hope you get to feeling better really quick! It's hard enough to cycle without getting sick. Hope the ceiling paint goes well Kristine. I've done that before and it is a real pain in the neck. Literally.

This weekend, DH and I signed up for a mission project through our church. We will be working on a retired widow's home (along with a lot of other people) and trying to get it cleaned up and fixed up to livable again. It's just terrible what she has had to live with because she lacks the physical and financial ability. KWIM? So, one of the mission projects at our church is to help three such women out this weekend.

So, that's about it!

Who's next? What's up with you???

I know what you mean about time creeping by. After we turned in all our paperwork, the first month was the hardest of all. Now it seems to be going a little faster. I can't believe we're going on 3 months of waiting already. Anyway, I've been keeping busy doing projects around the house. I am working on scrapbook for my Mom. I am also doing 4 different Winnie the Pooh cross stitch projects that will eventually be framed and put in the nursery. I am working on our spare bedroom, we painted it and I bought some curtain panels and border that I am going to put up. Once we get the cirb we will be setting the nursery up. We also finally agreed on a boy and girls name which was a major accomplishment for us. We have decieded to go with Isaac and Isabelle (a/k/a Belle). Today a situation was presented but we decided not to have our profile shown to the bmom. The baby would be 75% AA and 25% CA. Being in the small town we are in we just didn't feel it would be the best situation for a baby.

Amber, I love the names you have picked out.
L and I had thought about naming out little one Isabella but I think we are going to name after L's mom and my grandmother.

So it will be Eve Patricia or Josephine Ann I am leaning towards Josephine and L is leaning towards Eve.

Marian- How did the mission projects go? You kind of inspired me to do some volunteer work. I have put in a call to a local place that makes meals to hand out to the ill in the area so I'm going to be a cook for them.

This past weekend was the blessing of the animals at a local UU church so I took my two dogs, talk about an emotional service. It was so sweet having all the animals, kids and loved ones all together it had it's funny moments and touching moments it was just really a great experience.

Now this weekend coming up we have a Tea Party to go to. Every year for the past 10 or 12 years my Great Aunt has a tea party and invites all the ladies in the family, it is a great time. Other then that not much going on.

Well I best run, I painted the living room celing yesterday and the baseboards so I need to clean the living room up now.

Wow! I'm so proud of you for doing that painting. That is just not so easy.

The mission project went great! My mom's group and I went to a nursing home yesterday too and handed out little gifts and I let some ladies hold the baby, etc. It was a good experience. Good for you, K, for signing up to help. You will feel terrific!

My 16-year-old niece is visiting us this week from Sedona. She is on spring break and decided to come here! We are thrilled to have her and it is so fun for the girls.

It is DH's birthday today! We are going to go have some prime-rib at his brother's house tonight. YUM!

Who's going to update us next???

We turned in all of our paper work a few weeks ago and just got a call from the adoption worker who has been assigned to our case. We have to do a whole new home study to be approved as adoptive parents, even though we were approved to be foster parents.

There are only 4 adoption workers who do home studies and we happened to get the one who works and speaks very S-L-O-W

I really can't complain though, we've had our daughter since she was 7 days old so, we just carry on with all the day to day stuff while waiting for the home study to be done.

We already have termination of parental rights for her. Her biological mother didn't fight it. She knows she can't get herself together so she has bowed out.

Now all we do is wait.
Sorry, I can't post her picture until her adoption is final. Trust me, she's

Last week we said goodbye to our baby boy J whom we had been fostering for 10 months, you can see the tops of their heads in my sig picture. He and Kira were best pals (since they were only 6 days apart in age) and we were the only family he has ever known. It was sad to say goodbye to him but he moved on to new foster parents who will be adopting him once their battle in court is over. His parents are fighting tooth and nail to get him back.

We will continue fostering during and after Kira's adoption.

Besides adjusting to the fact that we are finally pregnant and obsessing about every little thing . . .

I'm very happy and excited to report we got our first call for an emergency placement of 2 sibs; a five year girl and a 1 year boy. Besides all the confidentiality stuff I couldn't tell you more cuz I don't know more - except I'm to pick them up at the doctors later tonight. However long they will be in our lives we will give them all the care and affection that their little bodies want and hope that we are able to touch their lives in a positive way! Jadon was way cute when I told him that we going have a couple kids sleep over cuz right now their parents couldn't he said, "Great we are finally going to get some toddlers in our house!" Wonder when its going to sink in that the girl is older than him! HEHE.

Anyway I love reading all the updates and the common going on and would love to hear more!

Well I'm new here so I thought my first post should go here.

We came back from our second trip to China on Monday. I have brought back a monster of a cold with me so am sitting up in bed with a laptop and an endless supply of stuff to try and get rid of this terrible cold.

I love all your wonderful signatures - I need to work on something like that too.
