O/T 4th of July-Plans

I just thought I'd see what everyone has planned for the 4th.

I LOVE THE 4TH of July, it is my favorite holiday and every year I get so excited at the thought of hanging out with friends and family. Well this year we are still celebrating but not with friends and family but on our own.
We booked a hotel in DC and we are going to watch the fireworks over at the Monument. I am so excited, I love fireworks, I have the whole day planned.
We'll head downtown go get some Ben's Chili Bowl hotdogs and cheese fries. OH SO UNHEALTHY. Watch the parade check into our hotel and then go watch the fireworks. L works a couple of blocks away from the white house so she'll leave right from the hotel to go to work the next day and then I'll head home and then head back downtown with some friends that afternoon for some kids event.

What is everyone else doing?

Sounds like a great time.

The 4th of July is also my favorite holiday and is like Christmas in our family. My uncle lives on a beatiful large farm here in Iowa. He has a gorgeous pond on his farm and people can fish or sit on the gazebo and relax. He also has a big air conditioned shed where everyone eats and also has a game room full of arcade games. He also has 2 go carts and 2 ATV's that the kids can ride all over the farm. It is an all day affair with a gorgeous fireworks display at the end of the night. I can't wait for Alex to experience is first 4th of July with our family

How funny - I thought I was the only one who's favorite holiday was the 4th. IMO better than any of the others. I love love love fireworks! That being said no big plans - I'm a little bummed about the day falling on a Wednesday as it makes if a late night and a way too early morning when we all have to work or go to school! It won't be the twins first fireworks display since we took them to Orlando at the beginning of June and Orlando is huge into fireworks - we saw them everynight that we were there! Almost feel sorry for people that live there - must lose some magic.

We have no big plans - just a simple picnic with the older kids - babies will get their normal bottles followed by the city display of fireworks - of note Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are playing. The only family we have here are in Croatia until Friday so it will be just us.

We're doing the family thing here! DH's brother will bar-b-que some of his famous Jamaican jerk chicken and we'll probably eat all day and then groan about it. Then the fireworks are pretty much going off right in my little brother's front yard so we'll go up to his place to watch.

Then, it's back to work Thursday morning so we couldn't go anywhere. My dad asked us up to his place but we couldn't go because the 4th is on a Wed. Bummer.

The only family we have here are in Croatia until Friday so it will be just us.

Getting a little side tracked for a minute....Is your family from Croatia or are they just visting? L has family from Croatia and she went over there about 7 years ago to meet them, she has great video footage of the trip. She was the first American family member to visit the family in 75 years when she went. Just wondering...

Back on topic- Sounds like everyone will be having a good time on the 4th...Who else will be celebrating the 4th???

I love the 4th too and then my #2 holiday, Halloween. I get giddy from fireworks.

This year my Mom is having a BBQ (she NEVER has parties) so we are going there. Then back to our house for fireworks. We might go to a friend's that has a partial view of downtown and can see them from there.

The fun thing this year is that my work is giving us Tuesday off. So I might go to the community pool and then get a massage.

Kristine - Yup I'm like 25% Croatian! I have a lot of relatives that I have never met - I know my Dad and SM are visiting my Grandma's Village. My Dad and the rest of my family does a lot of traveling - me on the other hand has only traveled the US, Mexico, and Jamaica . . . I'm spending all the travel money on extending our family! Money well spent IMO!

Glad everyone has fun plans for the 4th - I'm guessing it will be dead around here on Wednesday!

Well we will celebrate our 8th Anniversary on the Fourth!!! I love it so much I decided to get married that day

We are planning a very nice dinner and then we will go and watch fireworks at Bandamere Speedway where my very close girlfriend races..It should be lots of fun as I will see a lot of my old co-workers that she invited!!
