Icon13 DH failed...

His CPR and First Aid classes...he didn't pass the test. Last night when he came home around 11:45 he was SO that he didn't pass the test. He need to take the class again...the funny part IF you can called funny at least for me is that he was complaining that they didn't give him enough time to do the test (the class was from 6-10:45 pm and the instructor gave the test at 10:30pm) and at the end the instructor was rushing him, he said that he felt like a little kid ....I wanted it to laugh but he was so upset that I had to think in something else while he was talking.

He was now I need to go again and take the class ...and I was like yeap!...I didn't know that you were going to be test it for that....so wish me luck I take mine in 2 weeks!

Oh, poor DH how frustrating. Mely on Monday I can send you and DH some stuff to help you study. L is actually an instructor so I know I probably have some helpful things around this house.

Now the really sad part although L is an instructor I would probably fail the test too, I should really get to studying.

Good Luck!

Oh Mely I am so sorry, I know that can be very frustrating. With my daughter dying from SIDS, before we could leave the hospital with my youngest son, they made us take a CPR class before they would release him to us, and my husband only passed by a few points, I was so scared. I hope everything works out the second time around!

Hey K, everyone here could probably use some CPR tips! DH and I took the test, of course, and we passed but it is intimidating!

Mely, I hope your DH has better luck next time. Is he going to take the next class with you???

Don't stress too much. If you both study in the next two weeks, I'm sure it will come out fine.

I'd also recommend that you be careful which material you study from. I used to be a volunteer with St. John Ambulance Brigade and then I was a Red Cross Instructor and the standards that they teach these days have changed a lot.

I find that when I take a course I have to ask, "which answer do you want on the test" and that if I push a little harder I learn that the paramedics will still use the techniques that I was taught and that those techniques are considered better, just more confusing to people with less training.

So, make sure you're studying from materials that match your local test.

I'm sure he was just nervous and obviously the instructor did not give him enough time. With more time to study I'm sure you will both pass! Try to relax about it and that will help.

The one agency we're looking at requires classes in childcare and first aid and infant & child CPR, all of which we'd like to do anyway. I've had a lot of experience with babies (my sister has 3 kids and I did babysitting for neighbors and family from age 12 through college) but DH is an only child and has only held an infant once! He's really excited about the classes!
