Default which agency

I had asked this in another post but thought I would start a new one. We are going to do foster care but have looked into domestic and international adoption. The agencies in our state charge at least $30K for domestic adoption. We just acn't afford that. I was wondering what agencies you all used if you don't mind telling. I don't know where to start looking at out of state agencies.

I don't know how I missed this post...

Anyway, we did the state fost/adopt thing, so I can't really help you find an agency. Just wanted to say "good luck!" I so could not afford another $30,000 myself right now.

Me either. We are doing the foster/adopt thing also or are at least trying to. Now after we have finished everything they say we have to wait until October when we will have been married 2 years.

Anyways, I was just wondering if any agencies fees in other states are less than $30,000 because that is what they are here. We would be interested in that if we don't get a baby through foster care. We just can't afford the fees here.

We used the Adoption Connection in Iowa, but they are only licensed to do adoptions in Iowa. Our fees were only $13,000

I think there are less expensive agencies out there. Did you check into the one that Jenn had mentioned that does domestic in every state? I can't remember its name right now but it was just in another thread.

I also found this place on line yesterday, I have no idea about fees or states they work with but it might be worth checking out. It was called Adopthelp dot com.

Hope that is helpful!

I know many of the religious organizations work in many states and have sliding fee schedules. Such as LSD and Lutheran Social Services and Catholic Social Services.

The agency I mentioned that is licensed in all 50 states in my previous post different thread . . . is American Adoptions. Their fee schedule is online. They have two different programs I between the cheaper one has a typical waiting time of 9-18 months, whereas the more expensive one is 3-9 months. The difference is usually how much support the first mom needs throughout her pregnancy.

I so wish that adoption wasn't so gosh darn expensive! Lots of good families are missing their chance of being a forever family because of these upfront costs.

We're using Bethany Christian Services of Iowa for our domestic adoption. We have a flat fee of $20,000.00 but if we have to renew our homestudy (it's only good for 1 year) then that's an additional $500 for every renewal. Each Bethany office is different, some are based on your income.
