Default Max's 9 month appointment

Max saw his ped. on Saturday. He's 19 lbs. 10 oz. and 29 inches long and got a hib vaccination. They were supposed to test his blood for lead but the lab was closed and I didn't want to go to the main hospital building.

Dr's a little concerned that he hasn't tried to pull himself up and wants me to schedule an evaluation with Early Intervention if he hasn't reached all of his one year milestones. I think he's just lazy and when I really start to worry about him, he usually does what I'm worried he isn't doing within a few days. (So I've been worrying extra hard in hopes that he'll pull himself up soon ). I'm trying to keep all of his favorite toys slightly out of reach to see if that will encourage him to try to pull himself up. We'll see. If not, he'll probably need therapy for a few months to get caught up.

Other than that, it was a good appointment. It was great to see his Ped. again -- she's really nice and spends as much time with us as we need. It's great not to feel rushed.

Sounds like he's growing very well!!! J & K aren't pulling themselves up either, or crawling for that matter, but I know it's gonna happen soon so I just try and relax about it. My pedi wasn't too concerned about it at their 9 month appt so we'll see what happens. I think there are still several babies on our board not crawling and pulling up yet either. Glad the appt went well and he's doing good!

It sounds like Max is doing good. Reilly also isn't pulling up or crawling and he had his 9 month appointment this morning and the Doctor seems just fine with what he is doing, so don't worry to much about Max because he isn't the only one.

Sounds good to me. Jack just started to sort of swim across the floor...or drag his body across the floor...funny to watch. He only pulls of if he has a hold of my hands. They will all get it in their own good time

Yeah, I agree he sounds just fine to me. Luca isn't pulling up or crawling either. Some babies just take more time to reach those milestones. Try not to worry too much, I'm sure he is fine!!!

I am sure he is fine, I wouldn't be concerned at this age and wonder why the ped said that. Lots of babies do things at different stages and I think there are several babies on our board that aren't crawling or pulling up yet, Alon and Aliya is as different as night and day, Alon was fast at doing everything, Aliya seems to take her time. I never thought she was going to crawl, but you should see her now. Max will be moving and grooving sooner than you think.

Sounds like a great appt. I know sometimes its a pain in the behind that the docs get you all worked up over nothing, but its good that they are on top of things ahead of time and not way down the line so they can get things corrected earlier. Its most likely as everyone says- every baby does their thing in their own time, so try not to worry!

Sounds like a great appt.. Jeremiah isn't crawling or pulling up yet, either and he already had his 9 month appt and his ped didn't seem worried.. He does roll every where he wants to go, and can stand holding on to the table, but only for about a min or 2.. I agree try not to worry I'm not they are all diff, my last son was walk at this age..

Good appt. I really wouldn't worry about him not pulling up either. I'm sure it will happen any day now, like you said. By 1 year he will be cruising all around and you'll wonder why you worried! LOL. He is such a cutie! Does he resemble your girls? I'd love to see a pic of all of them.

Max is growing perfectly!! I wouldnt be too concerned about the pulling up, Adrien didnt start doing it until he had been crawling for about 3 weeks, I think he had to build his leg muscles up because of his weight lol Plus it sounds like a lot of babies on here are completely going at their own rate, taking their time.

Good appoitment, like the other girls said, dont worry about him not pulling up, babies do things in thier time and no one elses. Such a handsome boy

Thanks for trying to make me feel better. It's so funny how different doctors have different opinions/concerns about development.

Normally I wouldn't care one bit -- in fact, my oldest never crawled and went straight to walking at about 13 months, my second was the same but walked at 14 months, my third crawled at 10 months and walked at about 12 months, but the abnormal U/S results when Max was in utero coupled with the inconclusive fetal MRI and the mention of Dandy Walker Syndrome have me completely on edge.

And I know that it's better to catch things earlier because then less therapy will be required so I'm glad his ped. is really keeping an eye on things, but she had me so worried because he wasn't rolling over and I was ready to call Early Intervention and he, literally, rolled over the next day and over and over and over. So I'm hoping it's just a matter of time for him. If not, we'll deal with whatever we have to deal with.

He looks most like my oldest, Mia, when she was a baby, except her eyes are blue. Funny thing is that each of my girls was darker than the one before. Mia was/is blonde haired and blue eyed, Caitlyn is brown haired and was blue eyed but her eyes are hazel now and Nina's hair was/is dark brown (almost black) haired with brown eyes. We wondered when I was pregnant with Max if the trend would continue, if his hair and eyes would be darker than the last, but he started out blonde and blue eyed. His eyes have changed to hazel but his hair is still blonde.

I'll try to post a pic of all of them this weekend.

I think I missed the post about the Dandy Walker Syndrome, I just googled it and now I see why the ped was concerned. But also there are a few babies on here that seem no where near ready for the pulling up or crawling even, which seems completely normal to me. I have a feeling he will surprise you here in a couple of days though

We saw a Neurologist after Max was born and they wanted to do an MRI but they would have had to completely sedate him to do it and I didn't want to take a chance. So we followed up with the Neuro 2x over a period of 6 months. At the last visit he said he could "almost" completely rule out Dandy Walker (the only way to rule it out completely is an MRI). Funny thing is that I was finally ready to consent to the MRI, and he felt it wasn't necessay anymore. Go figure. But he has been in touch with Max's Ped. and wants her to be hyper vigilant about milestones and things like that in case there is some underlying problem.

Tina, I missed the post about your doctors original concerns with your US and specialists. I hope they are able to rule it out and that he is just being "lazy" as you said above. I'm glad the doctors are staying on top of it though and being cautious.
