So many of you know that I ride / rode horses a lot growing up. I still have my old retired horse. We went to visit him today and Grayson got to sit on the big ol guy. She totally dug it, squeakin and kickin the entire time. Not quite sure what ole Buddy thought of it.

Speaking of horses, I think alot about Eight Belles racing in the Kentucky Derby. When the doctor came on the tv and said she had to be euthanized I cried. I think horses are the most beautiful animals and their personalities just like humans. She gave everything in that race. Very sad.
Sorry to be a downer in your post....I bet you can't wait to get Grayson riding when she's older!

wow thats so special.. how long have you had Buddy? Thats something precious for G to get to see and ride Buddy! and she is sooooo cute
I used to ride a horse when I was small, his name was papa smurf he was a pinto. poor fella is deceased now....
I got Buddy back in 1992. He is imported from Chile and raced for a few years before I got him and 'retrained' him to be a hunter / jumper. He is 21 now. Still going strong and loving life. (He is very high strung and VERY well bred.. His grandfather won the KY derby). We had many years of horse shows together so yes, it is very very special to see my lil one up on my old one. Riding taught me so many lessons that I hope G will take in; dedication, hard work, perserverance, patience, honesty, thoughtfulness, etc, etc...but mostly, riding kept me out of trouble!
Heres a pic of us in our heyday:
Oh, and Kris, It breaks my heart what happened to Eight Belles. Sometiems horse's hearts are truly bigger than their physical capabilities. They will give everything they have and then some.
Thanks so much for letting me share. Riding isnt a huge part of my life now and I really miss it.

Great pics!!! I was practically raised in a barn...lol We had race horses and spent many many of my growing up days at the barn. I LOVE horses and truly miss those days terribly!! Maybe I'll find a couple pics and post them sometimes too. I had my first pony when I was only a few years old, her name was Babe, I STILL remember her.
She's looks adorable sitting on top of that big ole horsey. DH keeps talking about he's getting his girl a pony, HA not in this lifetime. They actually have a brand new stable not even 3 blocks from my house that does riding lesson/boarding ect. He grew up with loads of horses so he wants her to have one, but I'm not taking care of one more animal that he thinks we have to have. I think maybe she'll get lessons first and see how that goes. When do you think would be a good age, I've seen 3yrs olds riding- but that seems so young to me.
G definitely looks like a natural on your Ole Horse Buddy. I hope that she takes after you and loves horses too!
You look great in the pics!
The 12 year old that I nanny for she has 2 horses. She is waiting patiently for Cam to get older and ride her horses. When I was younger my Mom took me to ride a couple times a year. It was so much fun. I can't wait to share those experiences with Cam.
Thanks so much for sharing! Greyson is a doll!
