Bottle Strike
So Peri's bottle strike continues. I seriously do not know what to do anymore. Today Erik brought her to my office so I could feed her. Luckily it's not too inconvenient, but it's definitely not ideal. Not to mention that now I feel like I can't leave her at all for any reason because she won't eat! I feel like we're spiraling out of control. She won't take a bottle, she seems to waking up more and more at night, and just this week she has decided she won't nap unless I nurse her to sleep. WTF! She used to go down for a nap awake and just drift off to sleep on her own! I can't figure it out. I'm so exhausted...

Re: Bottle Strike
Have you tried giving her a sippy cup? Cole will not take a bottle at all, but he will drink out of a sippy cup. I am using both the nuby and avent sippy cups. Hope you figure something out.

Re: Bottle Strike
Goodness, how terrible! Is she possibly teething and needs you for the comfort?

Re: Bottle Strike
Ugh.... that's a tough situation! I don't have any advice, but I hope she decides soon that the bottle is not the enemy Good luck!

Re: Bottle Strike
I may give the ped a call. I'm afraid she'll just tell me that she won't starve and it will pass. And today we actually did try the sippy (Avent), it was a no go. I'm sure she is teething. But I hate to start habits that will be hard to break later. And it seems like they are constantly teething anyway. But the alternative to nursing her is letting her cry which is definitely not for me.

Re: Bottle Strike
Wow Peri and Claire are long lost siblings! She's doing the same thing...all of a sudden won't take a bottle. I just bought a new kind to try that out but honestly I don't think it will help. She thinks its toy...she gets some of the milk but most of it spills out b/c all she does is play...and if I'm anywhere near her of course she freaks and literally grabs at me. She didn't use to care though if I was around and someone else fed her. Its getting really draining especially the waking up all hours of the night...about 4 x a night for the last few weeks! She's reverting just like Peri and like you I have no idea what to do.

Re: Bottle Strike
I think you're doing the right thing, Sheila. CIO isn't for me either (although I've used it with ds2). It's like Dr. Sears says, you shouldn't let someone you barely know, who barely knows your baby, tell you that it's okay to let your baby cry. Only you know your baby and know what she needs! JMO
