What are your thoughts on ...
registering at toys r us for a child's birthday? christmas?
I never knew that you could even do that until we received a birthday invite for a friend's five year old and there was a card included letting us know he had registered. Another mutual friend thought it was the rudest thing ever. I have to be honest, it is going to make gift giving a while lot easier for me. I wouldn't have a clue as to what to buy a five year old boy..

Re: What are your thoughts on ...
We create a wish list on amazon. I include a link to it on invitations if i can. Those people that i am close with (friends and family) know its just a place to get ideas. We have gotten from the list, from other stores and not off the list. Either way, no one can say to me 'i dont know what to get him/her'
If you look on the kids blog, we have miras wish list from her birthday. We had many people get ideas off of it, only a few things were purchased from it. I would rather say 'wish list' than registry. it just sounds better.

Re: What are your thoughts on ...
In theory, It bothers me, It, to me, sounds pretty rude, or greedy or selfish or something.
However, In practice, it seems pretty practical! At least as a shopper, it makes sense, so have some good ideas of what to buy for a kid that you may not know that well.
How many times do people ask you what you want ? Some people asked me for Chloe, and I was able to tell them some ideas, and other people did not ask and bought crap that we did not need.

Re: What are your thoughts on ...
Before I had kids, i thought it was the rudest thing ever, but when Aidan's bday came around, some people asked, and then i thought, do i keep repeating the same things i want for him, or try to split up the ideas?
and there really are some specific toys for him that i wanted that he didn't get, and i'd still like him to get them for christmas then, so i'm making a "wish list"
so even though it is rude (IMO) it's actually pretty helpful for people to have an idea, and i do think wish list sounds better than registry, but if you actually register, it's helpful so that everyone isn't getting the same thing
so basically, i agree with what everyone else said

Re: What are your thoughts on ...
It's a bit over the top, IMHO. A registry for a 5 year-old, WOW...I'd think it's rude too.

Re: What are your thoughts on ...
I think it's very rude.
If someone doesn't know what to get the kid, then they should ask the parents.
Make a freaking phone call!!!
geesh!!!
Our world is getting more and more impersonal with all the online stuff and voice mail and texting.
Pretty soon, we won't even have parties, everyone will just FedEx a gift......lame.
