Default What else can I feed her?

I am too lazy to go look for the food thread from a few days ago.

I cut up some apples today (at DHs request) and Maya choked 3xs and it scared the crud out of me. So I am not doing that anymore. I cut them up really really small too. She eats most things really well, so hasn't choked in a while. She eats cheerios, why are apples so hard for her to eat?

Can she have kiwis? They are softer, so I think she would chew them fine. I am trying to find more things to give her that she can feed herself. She seems to really enjoy that, and I think its good for her to chew (since she has so many teeth coming in right now). Am I wrong?

I bought some wheat elbow macaroni and gave her that and peas at lunch, and she scarfed them down (with the apples, which I later took away since I was tired of having to grab her and smack her back every 2-3 minutes. My heart couldn't take it anymore).

So anyway, what are some other ideas (for a momma worried about choking!) TIA! Sorry for doing a repeat post about this.

It would take all of us longer to retype our responses! It was just halfway down on page 2.

Terran likes to do it himself also! If I give him a jar of baby food, he tries to eat it as finger food in between me giving him bites!!

Mira likes D'jounu pears. They are super soft. I dont do smaller pieces because i feel that that makes it more of a risk, but ill cut her a slice with no skin. She sucks on it and knaws on it. I cant find a soft apple yet.

How about avacados. Squash pieces and boil them. Sweet potato sticks. Blueberries cut in half. I like ditalini size pasta tossed with butter and dill. French cut string beans.

I cant think of anything else right now, but thats a start.

Thanks Shellby!!

Avocados...I keep thinking about those, since I read they were good for babies since they need the fat. But I keep forgetting to buy some. Well, I fed her kiwi for her snack...and she LOVED it! Ate it up faster than I could count. She wouldn't even touch her cheerios until all the kiwi was gone. So that's good. Although, the kiwi was 2/$1...kinda pricey for "snack." She got half a kiwi.

I have been looking up steaming apples...anyone do that? Not sure how that would work.

While I was reading the other post I noticed that Randi, you said bananas are a "gagging food." I never knew that. ?? That's the first thing I fed Maya after puffs since they were so soft and I was not afraid of her choking. Isn't that funny. She loves "nanners."

Also, she does love french style green beans, but I tend to give the canned kind. I know thats not good. But I forget. She doesn't get it much at all, only if we had it for dinner. Same with peas and corn.
