Naps... (X-Post)
X-posted on BIJune Board as well.
How is your LO napping these days? I think mine is in transition from 1 to 2 naps. If he takes a morning nap, he will usually not take an afternoon one. It is kinda frustrating, cause he gets really cranky and acts like he needs 2 naps still, but seems to have only been taking 1 the last week or so.
Here is our schedule:
6AM - Wake up
8:30AM - Nap #1 (if he does nap during this one, it will take him 30 min. to fall asleep and if not asleep within 45 min - 1 hour, then I go get him)
10ish - Wake up from nap #1 (if he took it)
1:30PM - Nap #2 (he will be asleep in 15 minutes if he didn't take his morning nap, otherwise if he did take his morning nap, he probably won't sleep and I will have to go get him)
3:30ish - Wake up from nap #2 (if he took it)
6:30PM - Bath
7PM - Bedtime
Am I doing something wrong? I try to read Weissbluth's book for information, but it seems like maybe we are just in transition. Any suggestions? Does this sound normal?

Re: Naps... (X-Post)
I would try to skip the morning nap, but move up the afternoon nap to noon or so. You really have to play around with their schedules at this age. Rachael sleeps from about 7:30 - 7:30 and then will take an am nap at around 10 or 10:30 if needed and then an afternoon nap again around 1:30 or 2. If she doesn't take the am nap I put her down as early as 12:30. If he does nap in the am I would not let him nap more than an hour so as to make sure he is still sleepy for the pm nap. Good luck!

Re: Naps... (X-Post)
We had the same issue (if she took a morning nap, she wouldn't take an afternoon nap) but she was about 10 months old! Ugh! We've been on one nap for a while.
Here's our schedule:
Wake at 7:15ish
Lunch at 11:30
Nap 12:00-2:00ish (she'll sleep anywhere from 90 mins to 2 1/2 hours, usually 2 hours)
Dinner 5:00
Bath and snuggle time 7:30-8:15
Bed 8:30
So, she usually sleeps about 11 hours at night, and 2 hours during the day

Re: Naps... (X-Post)
We have been in nap transition as well. Zach was hardly napping during the day and I started giving him only 1 nap a day around 10:30-ish and he will sleep for 2-3 hours. I have no clue if he is napping that long because he is going through a growth spurt (he never naps that long) or if maybe this just works better for him.

Re: Naps... (X-Post)
Ok, we have been experiencing the same thing here with Jackson....BUT we have a really late sleeper on our hands and now reading how all of your babies are getting up b/w 6:30-7:30ish I'm kind of worried. He doesn't get up for good in the mornings until around 9 or 9:30 (sometimes if he's really tired it's 10!!!!). Is that ok? I mean, he will kind of stir around and jabber for a minute around 7:30 or 8, but when I go look in on him he's rubbing his eyes and still acting tired so I turn his music back on and he goes back to sleep. Am I wrong for doing this????
Once he's up he eats, plays and then usually about 2 hours later he wants to go back down. But the past week or so he's up for about 3 hours and doesn't go down until around 12:30 or 1. Then sleeps for 2 hours and gets up and plays again. Then SOMETIMES he wants to go back down again around 3:30ish and gets up around 5, eats, plays, bath and then bed around 8. He has started to skip this afternoon nap lately. How do you know if their schedule is "ok" for them? Of course, this will all be different in 2 weeks when he starts "school". He's actually starting to get on their daily schedule (she sent me a copy b/c I want him to be used to it) other than the getting up early part.

Re: Naps... (X-Post)
Lucas transitioned to one nap a few months ago. It took him a good month to settle on a new nap time and not be grumpy during his old nap times. He still has to have a relaxing time in the morning though...and sometimes again in the late afternoon. He just cuddles on my lap with his water and watches cartoons (I know...bad mommy...but it is the only way I have found to get him to sit still). His schedule is like this...
7:30-7:45am Wake up and cuddle in our bed
8:00am Breakfast
10:30am Snack and cartoons
11:45am Lunch
12:00-2:00pm Nap
3:30pm Snack and cartoons
5:30pm Dinner
7:00pm Bath and PJ time
7:30pm Bed Time

Re: Naps... (X-Post)
Amaya is pretty good at her nap time right now.
she wake up @ 8:30 AM but plays in her crib and talks to her stuff animals until 10. she loves telling her stuff animals about her dreams
she eats breakfast @ 10 and plays for 2 hours
takes 1st nap at 12-1230 wakes up 2-3
eats lunch and plays for several hours
takes short nap @ 6pm for 30min
goes to bed @ 9pm.
her schedual i so screwed up compare to normal kids but she was the one that set it up. if ti changes from that in any way she gets so cranky and tempermental.

Re: Naps... (X-Post)
Just peeking in and saw this. Steven has been going to one nap for a while now. His schedule
awake 6:00-7:00
Nap 12:00-2:30 (Usually between 1 1/2 - 2 hours)
Bedtime 8-900
I will say that I think daycare has helped him transition to one nap. He really LOVES playing there and I think he doesn't want to miss anything. This summer there are days on the weekends though that it is hot and I have noticed that he takes a morning and afternoon nap. I let him set the pace. If he is sleepy then I ask him. He will start sucking his thumb and go down the hall to his room. I also give him "rest" time. he really doesn't want a nap, but just needs some quiet time. He will lay in his crib for about 20 minutes and then he will start calling "mamama" and I know to go get him.

Re: Naps... (X-Post)
..I know I have it good ladies... no doubt about that..
funny thing about naps, this morning we had a friend come by with her son who Rylan LOVES playing with... she played on on the minute to when it was time for a nap, she waved at everyone said "night Night" and went over to the gate to go upstairs to bed.. I cracked up, she went down no problem, even knowing everyone was playing downstairs, is that funny or what?
