It's not that flaxseed is bad for TTC. It's that it's not recommended during pregnancy. It has been shown to sometimes have estrogenic or anti-estrogenic effects (depending on the study) which could harm a developing fetus. So, it's suggested that if you are pregnant, to stay away from FSO.

Ok, thank you. Does it have any helpful properties for TTC?? I"m pretty sure I read it's safe while breastfeeding.

This has some more info. Since there isn't enough to support its safety, a lot of folks will say it's best not to take it while breastfeeding since they don't know what the effects of additional supplementation may be on the baby.

I have endometriosis. That being said, you can probably figure out that my estrogen is usually high, my doctor refuses to test it as he says he knows its high because I have severe endometriomas that grow and have to be removed via lap. I took flax seed while on Lupron and went from very severe endo to scant endo in six months. I stopped taking it when I heard it is bad in pregnancy for fear of accidently taking it if I ever do get pg. Anyway, I guess what my question really is, can I take it AF to O and still get the effects of decreasing my estrogen, or does it have to build in the blood stream in order to work?

I may also have a progesterone problem (slightly low), and again my doc won't test it because "he knows what my infertility problem is, its endo" (UGH, I can't wait to find a new doc). Do you have any suggestions what might help? Should I start the Flax again?

I forgot I should also tell you that I take Zoloft for depression/stress/anxiety, sorry it was long.

BTW, I was reading on the info sticky that geranium, lavendar and basil may also be of some benefit to me....How do you use it, and do you think I should with my zoloft?

Thank you so very much.
