Default vitex question

Hi ladies!! I have irregular cycles (in the past year they have ranged from 30-49 days). I started taking fertiliaid (basically for the vitex that's in it) last cycle, and had an unexpected 31 day cycle. I know that sounds good, but I never ovulated!!! I was using CBEFM, and got a low reading cd 10-18, and high cd 19-22. I ran out of test sticks, so I continued with opks cd 23-27, all negative. I was actually thinking the vitex wasn't kicking in yet and was preparing for another loooong cy, when af came!! Based on my LP, I should have o'd cd16, but I was getting a low reading, and based on the physical changes I usually notice before and after O, I can pretty much guarantee I never o'd. I'm really happy for the shorter cycle, but it won't do any good if I don't ovulate!! So I'm just wondering, is it common with vitex for things to get crazy before they even out? I finished the fertiliaid, and have to decided to just buy plain vitex and use prenatals since it's cheaper and easier to purchase.

Thanks for any info!!!

sorry it took me so long to get on this! i was out of town....

ok...when ever you add somthing new to you body or change your diet you cy will also change. its really hard to tell from just one cy if somthing is helping/hurting. so to answer your guestion yes... things can get crazy before they even out.

meca is good for regulating your cycle and can help ovulation.

keep us posted on this new cy! make note of even the slightes change or symptom

Thanks for the info! What is / where do you get maca? I'm going to stick with vitex for a couple more months and see what happens. I'm on cd 5 right now, so there is nothing new to report, but I'm going to use opk's beginning on cd 9 and see what happens. Also, should I use vitex throughout my whole cy, or just until o?

thanks!!

you can take vitex daily but once you have o'ed you may want to discontinue taking it incase you become pg. some ladies take it untill 1 week after o. best of luck to you and please up date us! your story could be very helpful to other ladies!

maca can be found at any healthfood store or sometimes the grocery store with the vitamins. some women on the board have said that mace helped to shorten their cy and gave them a stronger o. as far as how much to take it depends on the brand you buy. some of them have other ingredeints so read the lable closely. i will see if i can find you a link on more about maca.

Thank you so much for the info--the maca is definitely interesting. If I don't get any results from the vitex, that will be my next step!!

Hi! Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I poas on 8 and 9 dpo, all bfn. I know it's early, but it's still discouraging. However, the other day I was cooking a steak for dh, and when I opened the wrapper, I just about gagged--it smelled rotten! I asked dh what he thought, and he said it smelled fine. Then yesterday, I went through the Mc Donald's drive-thru, and when the window opened, it smelled like nasty meat. (I usually love the smell of MD's) With both of my pg's (I miscarried the second one), the smell of meat, both raw and cooked made me sick. From the minute I would walk into a supermarket, I could smell the meat dept, and it smelled soooo disgusting. So...that's kind of interesting to have happen two days in a row, but I'm not much of a meat person, and I do occasionally get nauseated at the smell of meat. Anyhow, I have been having very minor twingy cramps, and I usually don't get any type of cramping until the day before AF, so that is kind of promising. On the other side, I have been craving chocolate nonstop, and I've been super-irratable, both common for me week before AF. I have enough sticks to use daily until af, so if I get any good news, I'll let you know!!

Oops. . . I forgot to reply to Kara . . . . Congrats on o'ing! I know what it feels like to have cy's soooo long, and then ending up with a bfn and not knowing how long it would be until that darn eggie would make another appearance! In the past year of ttc, I have pinpointed o only 6 times!! That's half the chances of "normal" people! I'm hoping the vitex will do the trick and normalize my cy. With the maca, are you taking it until o, or the whole cy? I am taking 2 vitex from af-o, and then just one a day for 3 days after 0'ing, to "wean" myself off. I'm just wondering though, when I start taking it again how my body will react to it. It would be nice to be able to take something daily until bfp, and keep the body on an even keel--kwim?!

Anyhow, good luck and keep us posted!!

Yep...tested on cd 10, 11, and 12--all bfn. It's driving me nuts!! When I was pg the second time, I knew I was pg even before I tested, because all the symptoms I had when I was pg the first time were there. I have the same symptoms now, and all I'm getting are bfn's!! Yesterday, I almost fell asleep during dd's dance class--and it was at 3:00! Then, I was super hungry for dinner, and after eating only a little bit, I was feeling real icky--it did not agree with my stomach. I know it's not totally hopeless yet, but those darn bfn's! Oh well, I have 3 more tests, so we'll see.........

Thanks for thinking of me, and I'll post again tomorrow!

...i don't know what is going on???? I thought I O'd but the temps are not high. I changed my tuning thingy to Research and it took the crosshairs away. I really thought I O'd and that maca helped, but I guess I am still waiting to O. The latest I have ever O'd is cd38, if I go later than that this time, I'll go crazy!!!!!!!
