REIKI: Has anyone tried this?
Hi Everyone!
I'm new here, and ttc for over 7 months. I started Reiki last week and plan to do a session every other week. Reiki is basically an eastern treatment for balancing energy. It helps to relax and center you as well. I was wondering if anyone has tried this.... Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I look forward to meeting my fellow alternative therapy-seekers!!!

Re: REIKI: Has anyone tried this?
Hi Sammy,
I'm a lurker here, and I thought I'd delurk to share my reiki experience. I have PCOS, and a few years ago, when I had gone approx 7 months without a period, I had a reiki treatment. My practitioner did NOT know about my PCOS, nor that I was having menstrual difficulties. However, she said there was a lot of 'blockage' when her hands were over my pelvic area. She spent a lot of time with her hands hovering about 6 inches off my pelvic area. Would you believe, the very next day, I got my first period in 7 months? I was impressed!
Now that I live in a new city, I have not yet found another reiki practitioner, but I just might look into it, to help with my ttc efforts. I wish you all the best with your treatments.

Re: REIKI: Has anyone tried this?
Novadele,
Wow, what a freaky consultation. Makes you believe! I've gone a few times, however I DID let my person know my problems, (now I wish I hadn't!) but I do believe that the positive imagery and relaxation can't hurt! Definitely merits looking into in a new city. I don't have any connections up in Canada, but I'm sure there have to be plenty of reiki practioners! Good luck!

Re: REIKI: Has anyone tried this?
Hi Sammy!
So have you gone for any more treatments? For me, I was only trying Reiki, because a friend of mine had started going to a practitioner, and she kept saying how relaxed and yet how energized she felt after her treatments. I was going through some stressful things in my life, but not ttc at the time. So, I went into it with an open mind, but never in my wildest dreams would I have guess it could have had the results it did! Now mind you, I've had other people say to me that it could have just been a coincidence, and that my period would have started the next day anyway, but it made me a believer!
I am going to get a bit more active in looking for a new practitioner, and once again, I won't say anything about my problems, for a little while at least, and just see what happens. I'd be interested in hearing how it's working for you!
Take care for now!

Re: REIKI: Has anyone tried this?
Hi Novadele,
Well, I went just the other day, and like I said, my reiki practioner knows all about my ttc issues. They were the reason for my starting reiki in the first place. I would have to agree with your friend. After my sessions I do feel relaxed yet energized and look forward to my next session. Whether or not it is directly linked to helping with conception may be another story. However, if it helps with relaxtion, positive thoughts and energy (which it definitely does) then I think these are all steps in the right direction. I have appointments scheduled for every other week and I would even continue when (fingers crossed!) I do become pregnant. It also makes you feel a bit more empowered, because this whole process tends to make you feel like you don't have that much control over your body. By actively trying to do something to help, it puts my mind and body in a better place. So, yeah, I guess I would recommend starting up with reiki again!
