I have read something recently that taking Soy can actually inhibit your ability to get pregnant...
ok here it is... it was found in a book called The Whole Pregnancy Handbook and there is a whole page dedicated to Soy and fertility in which it states
Soy Food are rich in isoflaones, a class of Phytoestrogen, which is a waek non-steroidal type of estrogen with a wide range of health effects - most of them positive for example isoflavones from soy protien can lower LDL cholesterol, act as an antioxidant , and may help prevent breast cancers that are hormone related like breast and prostate cancer. Because of its estrogen content, some suspect that soy could contribute to both Male and female infertility. I dont agree and I dont think that eating moreate amounts of soy should be a concern to those trying to conceive . Moderation with so is worthwhile however for two reasons, first its hormonal component affects health when consummed in large quantities and second I think all food are better for you in moderation. By moderate I mean no more than 75- 100 Mg OF SOY in mond that various soy products have different levels of isflavones.
When weighing whether or not food is safe to eat or it interferes with fertility I think it's helpful to consider its observed effects in countries where it's eaten consistently. In asian countries where historical consumption of sosy is high women dont reduce the amount of soy they eat to become pregnant can safely consume moderate amounts of soy products they are easily digestable.
So I guess it comes down to how much soy you intake .. but I can see that maybe taking soy supplements might have a negative effect on conception ... but I will leave you to your own decision
