After the third cycle my RE suggested switching and I agreed. I also had several polyps removed after that cycle. We did a 4th cycle with him just because... we had seen embryo progress, polyps were removed and I wanted a summer cycle. My goal was to squeeze as much in this tax year so the return would pay for some of it.
I'm going to do a 5th cycle at a new clinic and if that cycle fails, I'm trying on more clinic(too far for me to drive during the school year and winter) and give it 1-2 tries there. I'm hoping with a new protocol (adding lh), a different lab and different perspective that's all it'll take.
I've been told to not give up yet, so I'll do as much as I can afford. I make plenty of eggs, the process hopefully just needs tweaked. I was also concerned with my age, just turned 37, but both REs weren't concerned at all. Statistically, numbers aren't on my side any more.
Do you take any meds for your pcos? I take 2000mg of glucophage and 30mg of actos and that combination has given me natural cycles. I've had them since the late spring/summer of 2005. This current cycle was the first one I didn't think I'd have, but it was just delayed due to stress I'm sure. We are dealing with male factor issues as well, so we need IVF.
If you can afford it, try acupuncture. Ideally, I would have done twice a week, but I don't have the time during the week since I drive so far to get there. The stress of being gone and getting nothing done and paying twice as much a month wouldn't have helped me.
It's difficult to change REs. I really liked mine a lot. The previous one I went to wasn't my favorite. Ironically, I'm back at the very first one I had a consultation with in 2003. They accept my insur. now so visits, u/s's etc. are covered, just not ivf.
Did you get pg while with this RE?
