Ok, I know this is something most of you experienced months ago, but we are finally moving past pureed baby foods! Up until recently, it didn't matter what I tried, Kian would gag and puke if I gave him food that had chunks or textures in it.
Now he has had pancakes, rice, big people cereal and oatmeal, and the biggest surprise for me, a whole piece of breaded chicken parmesan. He loved it! So far he hasn't turned his nose up at any of our food. I still have to be careful because he isn't great at chewing and swallowing, after I gave him rice I saw little pieces of it still in his mouth hours later, but he is learning.
I'm so excited to be able to feed him some foods that we just have on hand instead of having to always plan a baby food meal for him.
Yay! That's awesome! I will admit that it is a lot easier to be able to feed them what you're already making vs a separate meal for them. Its great that he's so good at trying everything. Julia's so picky that sometimes I still end up making a second meal because she won't eat what I'm planning. Can Kian teach her to like chicken other than in chicken nuggets? I'd love it if she'd eat chicken parmesan! Man...now I want that for supper.
Woohoo Kian! I have mixed emotions about that step, lol. It was so easy to open jars of baby food and I knew he would eat them. But at the same time, I wanted him to stop the gagging and puking with textures and regular food.
I serve Chase a lot of Gerber graduates Toddler meals and the single serving buckets of pasta type dishes. Plus I open small cans of peas and lima beans to mix into it. We still cook weird and random and it isn't always kid friendly. However, he did like some sesame breaded pork last night.
Kian's menu will just grow from here!

for you!! We are still in between. Megan doesn't really like any meats; I would like it if she would eat a chicken nugget. It was fun to see her eat part of Mary Elizabeth's spaghetti last night.

How fantastic Mary Beth! Yay Kian! I have to say that I am always nervous when Kate eats rice (which she LOVES). It seems like there is always rice left in her mouth when she's done. I feel better when she eats things that actually require chewing.
Congratulations! That is a big step! Like Stacey, however, I find myself still feeding Asher a lot of the Gerber Graduates buckets and pasta pickup meals. It is so much easier for me to do that since I usually don't eat much, if anything, for breakfast or lunch, and our suppers aren't always very healthy. So I end up cooking something separate for him anyway. I know, I know, I should start eating healthier myself, and I keep telling myself that I will, but I'm just not much of a cook, so we eat a lot of prepackaged meals like Hamburger Helper. Anyway, I'm very happy for you and Kian. He sure is getting to be a big, adorable boy!
