Veggie ideas, please!
Jack is being an extremely picky eater lately. I'm having the hardest time getting any veggies in him, besides the ones that are in pureed baby food. He even won't eat a lot of that lately, but usually I can get a couple bites in. He used to eat at least a little of the mixed veggie bag finger-type food, but lately he won't eat it at all.
I need ideas! Are you guys getting your little ones to eat those vegetables?

Re: Veggie ideas, please!
Caleb seems to have fallen in love with french style green beans. I just drain the can and refrigerate the rest. he had Honey Smacks cereal and green beans for breakfast this morning.
sorry im not much help. ive just been buying canned veggies, draining them and dumping them on the tray. he gets veggies 1-2 times a day and fruit once a day with his meals. if you cant get him to eat veggies, try fruits. im one that feels you dont HAVE to have veggies to be healthy. (my dh takes a multivtimin b/c he doesnt eat veggies)

Re: Veggie ideas, please!
We are doing a lot of baby food still, and on that front, if Jaymin goes through phases where he;s rejecting, I will get some applesauce or other fruit, and alternate between the thing he likes and the thing he hates. That works well. He'll eat green beans as finger food, but anything else, I will just offer to him on his tray before anything else, and usually he'll play with some of it until he eventually eats some. I don't have any advice with the tablefood veggies really. It'll come. If he seems to really hate something, give it a break for a while, and then try again later. That's the best I've got. the other girls will have more!

I mix it with some cereal if he doesn't seem overly fond of it. Seems to help.

Re: Veggie ideas, please!
Thanks girls! Already some great ideas! Jillian, I hadn't even thought about trying the french style green beans. I think I'll give it a try...for some reason, even I like the french style ones better! Maybe Jack will too (and they will be super easy to eat).
When he has baby food, I have been alternating bites with something he likes (yogurt, usually). It totally grosses DH out when I do it, but it really does work! I guess the main thing I have been concerned about is he's not eating "finger food" veggies by himself. I guess I shouldn't stress so much about stopping the pureed baby foods as long as he's still wanting to eat them, right? I guess I was starting to get worried he was the only one who still ate those sometimes.

I wish I had ideas for you but we're having the same problem. Julia won't eat baby food and she isn't big on most table food veggies so I've been a bit worried too. I just keep trying and some days are better than others.

Re: Veggie ideas, please!
Have no fear, Luci! I am convinced I have the only baby eating baby food around here. You have probably read about me commenting on Chase's inability to eat table food without throwing it up. We have to be very careful about the texture we give him. He seems to be doing okay with breads and crackers in tiny pieces, but peaches, peas, ham, etc. has caused him to gag and erupt. Ewwww. I talked to the PA at the ped's office yesterday and she said some babies just take more time getting used to solids. OK, yep, figured that, but it's just nice to hear that I shouldn't freak out.

Re: Veggie ideas, please!
I have the opposite problem... Kate would ONLY eat veggies if I let her! I started her out on veggies (after cereal) and didn't give her fruit for almost 2 months of veggies. She's fine eating fruits but doesn't prefer the sweetness. Last night I made chicken and rice with peas in it. She picked out all the peas first! Her favorite is brocolli but I have to be careful she doesn't eat too much at a sitting or she gets very gassy.
I don't do veggie baby food anymore. Haven't in a while. Kate will eat peas, green beans, canned carrots, brocolli, and spinach. I just offer it to her and she takes it. Although when she wants to be done, I pretend to eat it and then she'll want more.
Sorry I am not much help!

Re: Veggie ideas, please!
Wanted to add, try some baby carrots steamed till they're very soft, those have been a huge hit around here, that and also brocoli, even brussel sprouts!
