Default So many clothes and so little Julia

To fit into them that is. I've just gone through all the clothes she has that are 12 month size and between what I had from Emma, what I've picked up for her and what Mom's picked for her, the kid is set beyond belief for spring/summer clothes and into fall. Problem is, they are ALL too big for her! Her 12 month shorts fall down after 5 minutes of walking in them. The onesies all hang down to her knees and the tops all go down past her butt. *sigh* I love my monkey the way she is but if she doesn't take a growth spurt soon, I'm going to have to go out and get some stuff in 9m size for spring/summer. All the pretty clothes just hanging in the closet.......guess that's what I get for assuming she'd be a 12m size at 12 months.

But, I've gotten everything baby except the crib and playpen out of her room now. The change table is still there for the moment too but by the end of summer, I'm going to take the pad off and start using it as a desk. I thought I'd be more sad about getting rid of all the baby stuff but in a way, it appeals to the organizer in me to purge it all!

Oh my.... we have the opposite problem! I tried some pants on him this AM because it's cold here today and they were 12 months and when i sat him down he cried because they were just too tight on his fat belly!!! But everything i have been picking up for Noah has been summer clothes so we have a limited supply of 12-18 months that fits him still for cold... it should be gone in a week though, we should be ok.

Grow Julia Grow!!!

LOL at the need to purge because it will feel good to the organizer in you!!

Well who would've guessed she couldn't wear 12 month clothes when turned 12 months?! I will be in the same boat, but with the opposite problem. Chase's onesies for summer may be too small because I bought all of them in 18 month...nothing in 24 months. He has maybe 2 rompers in 24 months. I hate not being prepared, so I bought ahead, too!

As for the changing table, I still use it every day. If I dress Chase or change him on the floor, it's a wrestling match to keep him on his back. I have to be super careful about laying him down so his head doesn't hit the edge of the raised gaurd on the table, but he usually draws his legs up anyway so he isn't hanging off at the foot end. Yet!

I bet Julia hits a growth spurt and you won't need to purchase warm clothes in 9 mos sizes. I can't imagine that! She looks long in the pics you post.

That's what my family says back home too, that she looks so big or so tall but she's a shrimp. I just posted some pics in the POTW thread and that coat she's wearing is a 12 month one from Emma and it goes down to just above her knees when she's standing up straight and the sleeves are rolled up twice in order to get her arms out. I figured I'd use it back last November because I was sure it would fit OK by the end of winter and here's she is still looking like she's drowning in it. Guess I should have bought her a 9m one like I had planned.

I know what you mean about coats. I noticed the other day that Chase's hoodie seemed like it was getting short at the waist and in the arms a little. The tag says it's a Children's Place 6-9 months. No wonder! I think their stuff runs a touch big. But his 18 month one (different brand) that my mom bought him looks too big! Guess I should try it, I might be surprised.

That's so cute you call Julia a shrimp.

We actually have taken to calling her "Shrimplet." I was calling her my little shrimp one day and DH started using shrimplet instead and it stuck.

Xandra is the same way. We barely had anything that was 12months for Riane she hit a growth spurt and did not stayin them long. Well Xandra is staying that way. She is still wearing her 9 month clothes. Gald she can walk. It helps when she wears the dresses.

You are so organized. I have a pile of stuff in front of Xandra's closet that needs to go in storage. But need my hubby to help me.

I'm the oppsite. I'm sad to see the baby stuff to go.

I love ths shrimplet nickname!!

Megan is the same way Jenn, alot of her 12-18 month clothes are still big. I figure by this summer she should fit in them. I didnt buy ahead to much for her summer stuff, but I have bought alot of 18-24 for this winter and Im worried she is going to be to small for them, but I just couldnt pass up the deal! I hope Megan and Julia have a growth spurt and they both fit into their clothes this summer!

Jenn, do you sew? Or does anyone you know sew? Calebs issue is that he is in 24m/2T shirts. Onsies are 18mo for the time being and shorts can still be 12 mos but like you they are big. 9mos are way too short in the legs though. My mom is going to take all his shirts (12mos and 18 mos) and "dart" a small hem in the side so they fit. and when hes big enough for them we just take it out. its a teeny little stitch thatll be about 1/2 inch long so its easy to take out.

That stinks Jenn! I never buy too far ahead becasue I was never sure where Kate would be with her growth. Once she gets into a size, I usually buy a bunch of things. I only buy a size ahead if it's long sleeves because those figure she can wear year round (chilly nights in the spring/ fall). We are officially in 12 months though (who would have ever though Kate wold outgrow Julia!) and I just packed away all the 9 month stuff yesterday. We still have baby stuff everywhere - no sense in putting it away now! And I wasn't sad packing up clothes this time. I guess since there's a possibility I may be pulling the same stuff out again... I was sad that Kate's biggest growth spurt was at 9 months so she didn't get to wear that stuff for very long. The weirdest thing I am find now is that I have such a variety of clothes for 12 months. Long sleeves, short sleeves, sleeveless, pants/ jeans, shorts, tank tops. It's a little bit of everything!

Has Julia gone through the 1 year growth spurt yet? Kate started pigging out this weekend and I am hoping she doesn't start to outgrow her 12 month stuff since I just washed it all!

Jillian - I do sew a bit and so does mom so I might see if I can alter some things a bit. The dresses can be hemmed up a bit and maybe the pants can be darted in at the waist but all the little sunsuits and rompers I have can't be fixed.

Kristina - I was spoiled by Emma who was always exactly the size she was supposed to be or a bit ahead and since I buy up to 2 or 3 years ahead, I always had something to fit her. It doesn't help that I've hit 3 really good Carter's sales combined with discount coupons/gift cards, I just couldn't buy stuff for Julia at those 3 sales. "Hi, my name is Jenn & I'm a Carter's addict!" She hasn't taken a growth spurt since just after she turned 8 months. She grew 2 inches and gained a couple of oz and that was it. Since then, she's only gained 1/2 a pound and no height. My mom says that when this next spurt comes, its gonna be a doozy.
