Oh man, you guys are scaring me that it is! I just did some research and found this statement:

Pink eye is probably overdiagnosed. With an upper respitory tract infection, many kids have a runny nose and cough and a little drainage from their eyes. They do not have continuous draining throughout the day and their eyes will not be red.

bacterial pink eye-lower eyelid will be red

viral pink eye-eye will be intensely red

need to call back and see if any of these descriptions fit him. I know it won't get me out of going to the dr. though. She already said he needs to be seen. Can't blame them for being paranoid, but gosh darn it, he has a sporadic night time cough, a runny nose and his top teeth are coming in. Seems like they made me take him in for this once before and it wasn't pink eye.

Riane has had a couple of times. It clears up realy fast. You just have to be careful what he touches. Wash hands alot. His and yours. I have not ever gotten it from her. Good luck and hoping it is not pink eye.

Noah had pink eye almost everytime he had an ear infection! We had to sneak drops when he wasn't paying attention, but my doc always said if you hit the eye even if closed when he opens it will get enought to help...

Well I called daycare and asked to speak to his teacher directly. (Not the assistant director who called me) She personally doesn't think it is pink eye. Then why the heck can you not convince your co-worker so I don't have to take him in? She said she thinks it's a cold because he isn't digging at it like it itches and the eye isn't red. Just goopy, so to speak, but his nose is running still.

I have never seen pink eye, like I said, but I know she has!

Darn, still heading to the doc this afternoon. Hoping to not get another call saying get him now because Steve is in a meeting and I am so swamped with testing today.

Good to know that if it is pink eye, you girls have some good tips for getting in the drops and that it shouldn't be contagious by the weekend.

I think it can be hard to know exactly what may be going on, and it never hurts to have the doctor take a look. Julian has had a red, goopy eye on a few occasions and I always bring him to the dr in case it's pink eye, since it can be so contagious. In his case, it was a repeat clogged tear duct, even though it looked just like pink eye to me. The doctor has a much more trained eye and knows what patterns to look for to discern the difference from one goopy eye to another. Something about how Julian's eye looked under a flashlight and the way that the eye drained indicated tear duct rather than pinkeye. Nonetheless, he still prescribed drops. I never would have been able to know the difference between pink eye and clogged tear duct, but it was good to have the peace of mind to know that we didn't have to worry about pink eye spreading through the house. I hope your doctors appointment goes well. If nothing else, you and Chase can steal a little alone time this afternoon. Good luck!

if you caught it quickly it should be cleared up in 24-36 hours, you just need to do drops for however long the doc says.

that sucks about your insurance, that would kill me since we never go but then we live there for 3 weeks straight.

sounds like part of a cold to me or even allergies.

UPDATE:

No Pink eye!

Now can I please have my $25 co pay back, my two hours of "vacation time" I had to use at work, my gas, my 4 phone calls I had to make to set up coverage for my lab, and the interrupted nap for my son back?????????????????

And do you know what the first thing the nurse said to me? Oh, after lunch we get tons of daycare calls....apparently everyone gets short staffed and they see which kids they can send home. This is exactly what Steve said to me and I told him they wouldn't do that. Yeah, guess they would.
