IT WAS GREAT. We got started a little late but it didnt matter. I woke up this morn, it was dry sunny and no wind I was ecstatic. All the kids loved the bounce house. And the pinata was HUGE. 14 bags of candy later it still wasnt full. (and go figure right now its starting to RAIN, lol).
In laws showed up just after 11 and they were gone by 1230. We did the pinata and right after that all I heard was "what time is it, its getting late" (which usually means tell Jill to hurry up and do stuff). I like to let kids ENJOY things not rush them through activities. We had 3 hours to do cake, pinata and presents, I didnt need to rush them from thing to thing. I also wasnt going to rush Caleb through his cake to meet their agenda. I mean it was HIS birthday, shouldnt he be allowed to eat as much of his cake as he wants? We had the bikes and scooters on the drive way and the kids loved being able to just ride around the yard. We did cake shortly after and before Caleb was even served his cupcake they were GONE. I was in the kitchen and Krystal said to me "did you know your MIL is in the car leaving?". I HAD NO CLUE. They didnt talk to me or anyone else the entire time. A friend was here and her 2 yr old cant walk, talk or anything else. he has the capacity of an 8-10 mo old non-mobile baby. He also had open heart surgery before he was 1. While talking to her about him my MIL rolled her freaking eyes. I mean how rude can you be? He has true medical issues and MIL rolled her eyes? DH was ticked when I told him that but he was relieved to know my friend didnt notice. As soon as we sang happy bday they were in the car and GONE. DH is pretty annoyed. At one point neice hit BFs son and MIL said she didnt so BF told him "if someone hits you, hit them back" (not right but we all agreed that was how we would handle neice since no one disciplines her, i was not going to allow other children to be uncomfortable in MY home) and next thing you know they were GONE. So be it though, im not going out of my way to please people who obviously dont like me. I told DH he will prob get an email at work tonight b/c MIL knows he has to work and he said THEY were the ones not talking to anyone. I walked in a room and they walked out. I went to get a drink and they put down half made plates and walked away. Im sure ill get something about not thanking them for the presents but the way i see it, they didnt wait to open them and thats not my fault. (they brought ALL the boys presents which is something we do NOT do but whatever). Jordan pitched a fit b/c "nana told me to go open it right now". Dereks got put away for his bday before he noticed b/c well today is not his bday and we dont want any of our children to EXPECT gifts on each others bdays. Its a personal decision for us and our family and they are well aware of it otherwise she wouldnt have told Jordan to go open it RIGHT NOW.
DH has decided from now on we are just telling them that the kids dont want a family party, they want a friends only party and we're leaving it at that. Dont know why they even came.
sorry for the ramble back to the party and my special boy....
The party was just great. Caleb had a great time with all his friends and didnt even want to take a nap. its 530pm. He slept for about 40 min at the end of the party and thats it since he got up this morning. Im sure downing the entire cupcake made him a little wired but whatever, it was his birthday he was allowed.
Caleb enjoys his cupcake, every last crumb, LOL and enjoyed all his party foods.
This was the first party I was able to enjoy and not feel like a crazy woman about. I was able to spend time with my children and not have to cater to everyone, something all my friends understand and respect (but then again thats prob why MIL got mad right?) DH joked that she probably saw we didnt buy diet coke (thats all she drinks) so she got mad at left, LOL. He almost bought 1 can just for her. I think its ridiculous to buy diet coke all the time when she is the only one who drinks it. We dont even drink coke products and she knows that (diet pepsi doesnt work for her). Everytime we do buy diet coke it gets dumped out b/c she drank like 4 oz of the 2 liter.
off to upload and resize some pics. I got some great ones and my BFs hubby (my picture taker, LOL) took a bunch too. I love that he takes pics from diff angles (and ok TALLER angles) that I do.
