It's MY Turkey
DANG IT!
Everyone has a preference of some sort. For some its pepsi over coke, decaf coffee over caf, a certain type of ice cream, or even soft over hard cookies. Mine is Butterball Oven Roasted Turkey from the deli counter at Albertsons. I will eat nothing else, I dont eat packaged turkey I dont eat other brands, I just dont.
The day before surgery we went to the store and I got 2 1/2 lbs (At $8/lb). We were having open faced turkey sandwhiches with mashed potatoes and gravy that night. Sadly its expensive since we polished off the entire thing that night, hence why its usually MINE and occasionally DH will have a sandwhich from it. Its only good for 3-4 days after its sliced so anytime someone goes to Albertsons we get some, even if its just 1/2 lb. I dont always have time to eat so this is something that is just there for me, kwim?
So anyhow, surgery day DH ran to the store and picked up 2 more lbs. We figured if anything else I could eat that (My taste buds were really off). We told my mom do NOT give it to the kids (b/c of the COST). What does she do??? Fed it to the kids. Not just sandwhiches, every time we turned around she was pulling little bits out of the bag and giving it to Caleb and Derek. I got 1/2 a sandwhich out of it and it was gone. I was ticked. DH explained that its MY turkey and she told him I could have the packaged stuff.... umm no i cant! The kids like it, dh likes it, I HATE IT. So dh again tells her DO NOT GIVE IT TO THE KIDS. He goes back to the store, gets me more (at this point I wanted a turkey sandwhich), and sure enough she feeds it to Caleb again.
here we are 2 weeks later and guess what.... Caleb wont eat packaged lunch meat. He will ONLY eat my butterball turkey. Im a bit ticked now. Why couldnt she listen to me? This is my child who eats anything and everything yet anytime a meat sandwhich is in front of his face he pulls the cheese out and throws the rest on the ground. I know we are spoiled that he isnt picky and seldom makes a mess but he also wants what his brothers have so if i feed them meat sandwhiches he screams b/c he wants one, yet he throws it on the ground. I even tried to give him PB&J while they had Turkey and sure enough he figured it out.
I love my mother I do but she has no idea what she started with this stupid ordeal.
I know its not THAT big of a deal, but its expensive and its that 1 thing that I enjoy and is MINE. Is that so wrong?
Im sorry to whine over something so stupid. As I was rushing to eat my turkey sandwhich for lunch before I was noticed (to the point of not even being able to enjoy it) I thought of this.
