Default Ink stains... HELP

DH just called and said he got laser jet ink (it comes out like powder I guess) on his brand new uniform shirt. its black ink on a blue-gray shirt.

any tips??

someone blew the dust off so its not on there alot but it NEEDS to come off. Its a $50 shirt and he just got it. He only has 4 of them and we cant afford to replace it right now (not to mention the uniforms are so new they keep going on back order)

HELP!

as soon as he said he got something on his shirt I wanted to scream. we want to treat it and get it out before taking it to the dry cleaners (I dont wash these so i guess thats the upside to spending so much on new stuff).

Usually cheap hairspray works best. There is also an ink remover that they sell at Target, I think that is in a small white bottle. My SIL had to use them when we stayed at their house and DH got printer ink all over her light blue comforter. We sprayed it with cheap hairspray and then scrubbed it out I think. I would do a google search and see what else you come up with.

I wouldn't, however, take it to the dry cleaner until the stain is out. In our experience, the dry cleaner does the best they can then press the shirt which sets in the stain.

I have always used Dawn (the dish soap) to get major stains out, but it doesnt always work. Kristinas idea sounds like a good one!

is it bad that i want him to get ink on something else so i can try it there first? Im so afraid of ruining this shirt. hes spent well over $1000 on new uniform stuff in the last couple of months. i hate that they are phasing out the old and bringing in the new but his uniform allowance doesnt even cover 1/2 of what he needs.

but at least DH felt bad and said hes sorry he has to dry clean 4 sets this week. usually its 2 sets, if he works more than 1 OT in a week its 3 sets but b/c of this thats 4 sets.

Kristina, do you know who makes the remover? I know RIT has a remover but it removes dye from clothing all together

I don't, but it did look kind of like a Rit bottle. It didn't take the color out, just the ink but I remember that the hair spray worked best. Alcohol may work too but test it in an area that can't be seen first to make sure it doesn't take the color away. Regardless, out a towel underneath it while you work on it so the ink doesn't get all over anything else.

I'm not sure about lazer ink....I got pen ink all over my jeans once and was able to get it out with nail polish remover....on jeans, it worked a lot better than the hairspray. I don't know about shirts though. The nail polish remover worked better than hairspray on my dryer too. That's all I got....hope you find something!

What about oxyclean? Isn't that the one that says it will remove stains from anything? I get oxyclean from Walmart. GL!
