Infants Need Passports....
I know they have their reasons but I find this absolutely ridiculous. It says picture must be current. So they are basically saying everytime we go somewhere I need to get a new pic of Caleb for his passport? What a PITA that will be.
And I had no idea how expensive they are. Thankfully I'm not paying for it. I have a year to get them all done (me and the kids) but this is going to be a long process. Hoping it's as easy as taking a new passport pic and putting it in the book. Kids, especially little ones change their appearance monthly (or more), there is no way to keep an updated photo. My mom said to start with mine and Jordans since we will change the least. Then we can work on Dereks and finally Calebs so hopefully he wont change too much.

Re: Infants Need Passports....
I don't think you have to have a picture taken every time you go somewhere to update it. We had Julia's passport done up last October when she was 7 months old and her passport is good until 2012. We were never told that we had to update the picture at all.
In Canada infants have needed their own passports for years. They'll use the picture you submit and then when they turn a year old, you can give them a new picture and they'll issue a updated passport for free. Must check and see if the US does it.
Unfortunately, it does cost a bit to get them done. We had to redo mine, DH & Emma's at the same time and we got Julia done up then too. It cost us quite a bit between getting the pictures done and the passport fees. Thankfully, we're all good for 5 years now.

Where are you going? It is expensive, which is why we've never gotten ours done. Now that you need them to go anywhere out of the country, we'll have to eventually. I've heard that it can take about 8 months to get it.

Re: Infants Need Passports....
I had mine and Christian's done last year...
Since i hadn't updated mine to my married name and was worried that if we decided we wanted to go somewhere last minute we would be good to go....
It was a good thing since Me and Christian went to Canada in February... I always like to have current passports just in case, you never know.

Re: Infants Need Passports....
Sofia and Leo both have passports. Leo is 4 month in his picture, Sofia 2 months. They still travel with it and we never had a probalem with the pictures. What I found rediculous was that I had to pay a fortune to get them and that I needed to wait for the birth certificate and passport before I could fly to my parents to show off my babies.

When we had Julia's done, it was mailed back to us 2 weeks after we dropped the application off at the post office. Didn't take any time at all.

Re: Infants Need Passports....
theyve gotten alot better on the turn around time.
from what i read on the passport website you should update your picture anytime your appearance changes. IE long to short hair, beard/no beard, getting glasses, changing hair color, etc etc. otherwise they could more easily dispute if its really you or not. thats why i thought you had to update it often.
My mom istaking the boys and I on a cruise. We basically went at it and i explained that yes i do feel left out, as childish as that may seem. im never invited anywhere. not to dinner, not to gatherings, not to outtings, not on cruises (that the whole family always goes on). she told me i always say i cant, which isnt the case, ive never been invited and then after they get back from whereever Im told "you really should have come". Im not one to invite myself. anyhow, it ended with my mom saying me, her and the boys are going on a cruise. not sure where, and not sure exactly when as of yet. dh wants to go but then we'd have to pay for our own room and such so i told him later on we will go...

Re: Infants Need Passports....
I have never heard of changing your passport for minor changes like hair colour/length etc. I have seen a lot of passport photos of a lot of different people and some look quite different from their photos, but never have problems travelling. I too have never had problems either. It seems somewhat excessive to expect people to be changing photos everytime they re-do their hair. These people are professionals and should be able to see though things like that.
