Has anyone ever experience both kind of labors with different children?

I guess I should explain:
With Kate, I had an epidural but ended up needing a c/s. My recovery was stinky (to say the least) because I labored so long.
With Caroline, I had a natural labor. Although I screamed bloody murder as I delivered, my recovery was fantastic! I was up walking around and totally comfortable a few hours later (and that was even after the D&E that I had to have to remove the placenta!).

So now I am wondering what kind of recovery would I get if I had an epidural... I am hoping to go natural again but I worry about how long the labor can be. Was just wondering if having an epidural would make the recovery a little less better than natural?
