Are you going to put all three boys in one room? How are they arranged now? I can't wait until we put Ty and E together. I want to get bunkbeds for them. Tyler has been asking already, but I think we'll wait another 2 or so years so he can safely sleep on top.

Jordans room is 17x21, something like that and he has a queen bed. Derek/Calebs room is 15x13 (or something like that) and Derek has a full size bed. Derek and Caleb dont play very much in there room very much b/c its mostly got a dresser, dereks bed and Calebs PNP. Jordans room is pretty much the playing room which leaves J little privacy

Derek and Caleb are moving to Jordans room and getting twin beds (bunks that separate) so they will have plenty of room for toys. Jordan is going to move to the smaller room and keep the full size bed. Then he can shut his door and have certain things in there that are just his.

Jordan had the choice, get a smaller bed (twin from a queen) and share the big room with Derek OR move to the smaller room and keep the big bed (full) which was his when we first moved here. He opted to move rooms.

Jillian, the bunk bed the boys have measures 41.5 x 76.5. Their older bed was a little bigger. Just keep in mind that depending on what you get, the size could be a little bigger or smaller so if you think it will barely fit, make sure you're using a slightly bigger measurement!

ya i figured that much My biggest concern is that a bed is going to go head on the window wall and itll go right up to the closet, i wasnt sure if there was enough room right there. if i have to 1 wil go in the far corner (head on window wall) and the other will have head on closet wall and run along the window wall. i just hate that b/c its how the blinds get broken. I NEED the beds to be on that side of the room though, itll make the room the most spacious.

did you ever get the new bunks? walmart has some nice ones for $179. i need to see online if they have them in cherry wood b/c thats what we really want.

Yes, we got the bunk beds the day before Mother's Day/the kids baptism. That was fun. You know how Aaron is with cleaning (rolls eyes). So we spent half the day putting these together, then we had to go to Andys (rolls eyes again!), came home and had to finish the beds. We were up until almost 1am. Then, because we had no food prepped for the baptism, we had to get up extra early to do that and, well it was FUN. Can you feel the sarcasm pouring out of that?

Just another thing to remember when getting bunk beds is the size of the mattress. The mattresses we have are thick. The first bunk bed we almost got was shorter. The top bunk was only about 5ft off the ground instead of a little over 6. By the time we added our mattress, Sam would have had not much more than a foot of space to sleep in! So, we spent twice as much getting the bunk bed that was part of the same line as their dresser. Oh, and our mattresses are technically too tall for the top bunk. Some beds require the mattress be under 8 inches thick. The one Cameron had was 12! We switched his mattress with Sam's because Sam's was about 10in. It still covers a good portion of the guard rail but there is enough above that we're not worried about Cameron falling out.

How much of the closet will it cover? If you can still get into the closet easily, I'd go ahead and just cover part of the door!

about 10 inches which is just too much if i plan on using both sides of the closet.

we arent putting the beds together so the distance between them isnt really a big deal. i just want bunks that separate so down the road when we get into a 4 bedroom we can just put them back together as a spare bed in case they have friends over. that is if we decide we want/need a 4 bedroom.
