I haven't used any for Chase and have been against the thought since he was a baby. But he is so miserable when he lays down to nap or sleep right now.

They took all the cough meds off the shelf and re labeled them for ask a doctor for dosage under
6 yrs old when it used to say 2 yrs. Bummer!
I asked his ped last Friday about children's Benadryl for the anti-histamine effects (not coughing) and she said with a scowl "you mean, for your plane ride?" No, doc, to relieve his itchy eyes, runny nose, etc, not for the sleepy benefits, lol! She agreed that it would be ok to use children's benadryl at this age and I could give him 1/2 a teaspoon (he is between 26 and 27 lbs)
We had one dose ( 1 and 1/2 tsp) of Orapred that I paid $10

for when he was "at the tail end of a croupish cough" according to a doc we saw one Saturday 6 weeks ago. So last night at midnight I gave him 3/4 tsp and he slept so much better. I saved the other half for tonight, just in case. Running a humidifier was doing nothing for him.
So my question is, have you ever used any children's cough syrup on your LO?
After this last dose tonight, I feel the urge to buy something over the counter. I looked at the Target brand daytime cough syrup I had for myself and it does say it's for adults and children. It has dosage for a 2 yr old (1/2 tsp) so I am wondering if I could do 1/2 that (1/4 tsp) for Chase if we are desperate. Anyone ever had that advice from your own ped?
