Anyone elses baby climbing out of their crib?
it's driving me crazy!
anytime I put trevor to bed he climbs right out. the crib rail is all the way up, the mattress is all the way down It's frustrating. He thinks it's a game though.
I'm looking into crib tents. Maybe that'll help us? I don't know. Any other suggestions?

Re: Anyone elses baby climbing out of their crib?
I don't have any suggestions either but I've heard good things about the crib tent. *knock on wood* neither of the girls had/have tried that with the cribs. Out of the two of them, I expect if it was going to happen, Julia would be the one to do it but she's so dang short that it would be a while before she could actually do it. If you get the crib tent, let us know how you like it.

Neither of my girls have done that. If you get a crib tent do measuresments first. We got one and our crib was too big for it. But if it fits they work really well.

Re: Anyone elses baby climbing out of their crib?
well...for now I've set the matress frame ontop of the drawer (that's built into his crib) with the drawer resting on the ground. Luckily there are large pieces of wood along the bottom, so there's no gaps for little hands or feet to get stuck. This lowered it about 2 inches, so that SHOULD help, but we will see tonight when it's bed time. I'm not sure about the tents (I was looking online) and I have a crib that has a taller back then the front (ohhh, wait. I bet I could TURN the crib around so the back is facing the front and the front is in the back...I'd lose the convience of the drop side though (I I use it all the time...). Anyways, I'm NOT ready for him to be in a toddler bed!

Lex never climbed out of hers and if Nicklas does I will be in big trouble. Their room is at the top of the stairs and then I would have a real problem.
Hang in there.

A friend turned the crib around so the higher part was in the front and it did the trick. He never climbed out again.

Wow....sorry, no experience with that here! I think your idea of turning the crib around is a good first step. That'll probably fix it.....otherwise, maybe he'll be ready for a twin sized bed soon. Good luck!

Re: Anyone elses baby climbing out of their crib?
I bought a crib shield off amazon.com. It is 4 separate mesh pieces that connect from top to bottom and side to side around the crib. I originally got it when I would find Asher burying his face in his bumper pad and I got really scared of the suffocation risk. It cost just a little more than the breathable crib bumpers, and it is also supposed to prevent climbing. It has worked so far. I also like it because I can still drop-down the sides.
As for climbing, just yesterday Asher started climbing over his baby gates. It really scares me because once he gets to the top he just falls over the other side. Agghhhh! I really hope his crib shield continues to work, or I don't know what I will do. Good luck, and let us know what works for you!

Re: Anyone elses baby climbing out of their crib?
Not yet. Thank goodness.
My son never did... he moved to a twin bed around 21 months. Out of necessity, I needed the crib for Caitlin.
Forr me, when they start climbing, they go to a bed. I don't like the idea of the tents, although I have a lot of friends who have used them with great success.

Re: Anyone elses baby climbing out of their crib?
My nephew is a crib climber and the crib tent is holding him in perfectly. He actually seems to like it..like it's a fort or something.
Night before last I put the crib tent on Chase's crib...I bought it on craigslist for $20....and put him in it while it was still light. He didn't even seem to notice it. But when it was bedtime, holy screaming! He was climbing the sides, dying to get out. I tried 3x to soothe him, but ended up taking the tent off. I hadn't even zipped up the side when he was screaming!
So for now, we are not climbing and have no tent. But I will try again if I think he might hurt himself trying to get out!
Good luck with turning the crib around. Maybe that will do the trick. I am so not ready to move him to a bed!
BTW, I forgot to mention that I let Chase play with the tent before putting it on his bed and he LOVED it. Don't know why he hated it so bad when it was actually over his mattress!
