Icon7 3 hours to kill...

So I failed my one hour glucose test and am now sitting in the lab at the hospital doing my 3 hour one. So not fun! Apparently my OBs office sets the cut off score as 135 (some OBs do 130 or 140) and I got a 137. Can we say too much Easter candy while I was making baskets last week??? I am sugar freak when I am pregnant, but didn't have ny problems with Kate's pregnancy and am hoping it's the same with this one. Although my mom reminded me that I got to sneak one extra holiday into this pregnancy than I did the last!

It killed me to leave Kate this morning. Not just because of my post partum anxiety but also because I know my mom doesn't help by following my schedule all the time. She's convinced she can rock Kate to sleep and Kate is a gal who LOVES her crib and can't be held to fall asleep anymore. What made it even worse is that she is teething badly and cries for mama all the time. She didn't even want to take a bath last night and she loves her baths! Hopefully she'll take a good nap this morning and I'll get home shortly after she wakes up.

I am STARVING! I brought a muffin with me so that I can eat it the minute I am done. I can't stop thinking about it. I should have left it in the car!

I had to take the 3 hour test with both my pregnancy and it really stinks. Last time I watched a movie on my ipod. Good luck and I hope you pass! I passed both times

Good luck on your appt! I'm sure Kate's going to be just fine. I hear you on the teething. Ella's been horrible, I've NEVER had a fussy kid from teething before. I'm tempted to try those hyland teething tablets just to feel like I'm doing something.

I remember the boredom of waiting for the 1 hour to be over. I hope Kate has a good nap this morning while with your Mom and I bet she's going to be super, super happy to see you when you get back! Sorry to hear the teething is going so rough. Julia's been pretty decent since the top middle teeth came down but I think something else is on its way in. This morning while I was cleaning out the freezer in the kitchen, she grabbed a little bag of frozen mixed veggies and walked around chewing on them for almost 45 minutes. Guess she needed them more than I did.

Hey Kristina! Ugh, sorry you are stuck there for 3 hours. What were you thinking, bringing that tempting muffin inside with you?

I hope you feel okay. We had a pregnant lady taking her one hour test here yesterday and she threw up on 2 chairs and the carpet! It's so gross when adults can't get to a trash can or a bathroom. And both were very close to her. That happened once in our lobby and started a chain reaction of 3 patients getting sick! That soooo would have been me if I was pregnant and fasting with a load of sugar in my belly.

oops. I am not helping you am I?? Changing the subject...

I just love that pic of Kate in your siggy! did you get your thank you cards in the mail or bring them with you to your appt?

Thanks girls! I am actually feeling very queasy and light headed. Fasting and then putting this much sugar in your body is not a good combination. Yuck! This drink appaently has more sugar than the 1 hour and I can feel it! Hopefully I can get a good nap in this afternoon. I am wiped! I talked to my mom and Kate did go down for nher nap with no problems. Hopefully she slept well.

Those teething tablets are a lifesaver to us and work wonders! And the doc in your ER said they were okay...

Yeah, you made me feel a bit queasier but at least you made me look for the trashcan! You know I should have brought my thank you cards but didn't even think of it! I am almost done though so hopefully I will remember to finish them tonight. I don't know if I would do them anyway. I really feel ut of it! I also figured it was time to chnge the siggy pic. Can you believe I didn't get one pic of Kate in her Easter dress?! What a bad mommy!

I am sorry you have to do it. It's horrible. When I tool my 3 hour test, I went in the car and asked the nurse to call me when it was time and took a nap. And it's just wrong to make a pregnant woman drink the syrup.
So Kate just puts herself to sleep? What a big girl. I bet Rostam would to if I let him. I am having a hard time letting go!
I have post traumatic stress and anxiety after birth. Are you on Meds? I am not. I am seeing the therapist today.

I am on meds. I take Prozac. I have post partum depression (although I don't even realize it anymore - the meds help that much and I take the lowest dosage), post partum OCD (not the same as regular OCD but don't feel that much lately, either), and post partum anxiety. That's the one I notice the most but mostly because my mom likes to do things her way and Kate isn't always a flexible baby. She thrives on a schedule and routine.

Kate does put her to sleep all the time. I used to have to hold her to get her to sleep but then couldn't lay her down and it was tough and tiring, as much as I loved the snuggle! I figure every day she gets to be a bit more independent from me.

well that just sucks Kristina! Im so sorry you failed. I think 2 pts would warrant you getting to take the 1 hr over. thats just insane.

I hope you find something to pass the time. Id keep you company but I have things to take care of today (off the computer).

god luck with your mom and Kates Schedule, its always to hard to leave our kiddos isnt it?

hugs!

Oh my Kristina, I dont think that I could have taken the 3 hr test, I felt so sick from just my one hour. I think that is a cruel and inusual test. I know that its something that is really important to watch out for, but I wish there was another way to do it. I heard of one doctors office that gives you a candy bar, I was super jealous that I had to drink the nasty orange drink. Those make me sick even when I have something in my stomach. Anyway, back to you, I hope that you pass the 3 hr with flying colors!

So true! I've never been happier in my life or more anxious!

Thanks Jillian! I am home now and just ate some lunch. I was a bit too woozy to type much anyway. I am about to put Kate down for a nap and take one myself! I am pooped!

A candy bar? That would be better, I bet. I usually don't mindthe orange drink but apparently the 3 hour one is like the equivalent of 5 candy bars and is much more sugary than the 1 hour. I've never felt so yucky! I hope I passed! I should find out by Friday at my OB appt.

Well, you must be done by now! I guess you found something to make the time go faster. And it wasn't by posting on our board, lol! I thought for sure we would benefit from some new threads with all that time on your hands.

Since I made you feel bad (literally!) earlier, just to let you know our cut off is anything below 135 is passing. maybe that didn't make you feel better, but I didn't want you to think you just got screwed by that lab, lol!

Was your muffin just the best tasting thing after hours of starvation?!

Hope your mom and Kate had a great morning together.

Whoops, we posted at the same time! Sorry to hear you were woozy. It's the same amount of sugar in the glucola in our lab...but you drink more of it for the 3 hour test.

Hope you get to feeling much better when your lunch kicks in!

I say that to DH all the time and he laughs at me. I tell him when the upcoming babies are due and I say "We'll be having one in May and another more than likely in May....." and and he keeps saying that its the mom's that are having the babies, not the lot of us.

I'm just so stinking excited for all the babies! YAY!
