Review of Eggo Bake Shoppe Swirls
Recently, my son and I had the opportunity to review a new product for Eggo, Bake Shoppe Swirls in raspberry. Bake Shoppe Swirls are frozen breakfast pastries with fruit and icing filling. These are prepared by removing the pastry from the packaging and placing in a toaster or toaster oven for 2 - 4 minutes. You could heat in the microwave as well. Depending on the age of the child, a parent should supervise preparation. Pastry should be allowed to cool for 1 minute prior to eating as filling may burn tongue.
These are pretty cool for a breakfast pastry. Since the icing is on the inside with the fruit filling there is no need to worry about icing packets that come with similar pastries. My son enjoyed these, as did my older daughters ages 15 and 17. I was lucky enough to get to try one of these for myself. The filling has just the right amount of sweetness with the flaky pastry crust offsetting this nicely. Personally, I did not notice the icing, but that did not detract from the taste. I heated mine in a toaster over for 4 minutes and let cool for about 30 seconds prior to trying. The filling is hot, so I would recommend letting this cool for about 1 minute or cut to allow some of the heat to escape.
These sell for about $3 for 6 pastries in the stores where I live in southwestern Virginia. And they currently come in strawberry and blueberry.
