Here is an easy recipe to make your own Croissants.
725g flour
instant yeast
2 whole eggs
2 egg yolks/yellows
80g meltted butter/margerine
1 1/2 wine-cup of warm milk
100g sugar
pinch of salt
- Mix together in a bowl 125g of flour and the instant yeast. Add the eggs. Mix well
- Add the melted butter, the milk and the sugar. the mixture should be very liquidy.
- Add the rest of the flour and salt, mixing in intevals. Mixture now should forma tough dough.
- When it's all nicely doughed up, leave it in a bowl for 2-3 hours to rest with a clean cloth over it. Dough should grow about double the size.
- When done, roll the dough out (abou 1/cm thick - or to your own tast) on a flat sufface (covered with flour) and cut triangles. Roll up the triagles.
If cutting and making the triangles is too hard, do rectangles, this way you can fill them up with cheese and ham just before folding once or roling up.
You can also paint them with a bit of egg yolk, this will make them shinny and golden brown.
Into the oven until golden, normaly about 15min on 180ºC
You can fill your croissants with anything, sweet or sour. Chocolate, cheese, raisins, saussage, left over chicken, etc... use your imagination. Dh and kids love them
Have fun
