Default Starting Femara

Well AF found me, even after I got my bfp that was a fast m/c so I am starting Femara on Friday. Praying this will work the first time.

Sorry to hear you did not have a success last CY. I hope this next one is yours!!!

Is this your first time on Femara? Are you going to be doing a follicle scan and then a trigger shot or just the Femara and tracing your on ovulation?

I am PG with a Femara baby I took Femara from day 4 to 8 (I missed day 3 but my doc said it works both ways), then I had a scan on CD 11, took a trigger shot on CD 13, and BD'ed CD 13 - CD15. This was our miracle recipe.

I truly hope it works well for you. I know I had a few S/E's but nothing too bad.

GOOD LUCK...sending lots of

Thank you.

Amanda ~ Yes this is my first time on Femara. I am doing just the Femara, temping and of course my monitor. My insurance doesn't cover any infertility things at all. Was it your first try with Femara? I am sure praying for a BFP on my first, with my age I am getting a little antsy. What kind of s/e did you get? I am praying the s/es are alot less than the clomid.

Laura ~ your little is soo cute.

Shannon ~ I think so too. Although this is the first time I have actually gotten so far as to get a bfp at all, except when for the m/c in 2005.

Hi Shana,

This was my first time on Femara. I completely understand the age thing. I am still considered young but once you are 30 + I find the anxiety a bit higher to get PG. At least for me.... LOL.

I truly hate how medical insurance will not cover IF treatments or will only cover a portion of them. I live in Canada and have good medical but still IF is NOT covered and we had to pay for the meds (very common up here to have to pay for all prescriptions) and pay for the follicle scan. My DH and I had a very serious talk about how far we were going to take the IF treatments as the money adds up fast and we simply do not have it. BUT luckily it worked for us the first round (however, I had to have surgery for my endo, then took the Femara, did the follicle scan, then took the trigger and had timed BD'ing).

The S/E's are way less then on Clomid from everything I have read and heard other ladies say. I never took Clomid as my specialist prefers Femara as it has a high success rate and it also helps to thinking the uterine lining where as Clomid can thin it. Depending on how you have to take it (I took it once a day at night), I found the S/E's really not bad. If taken at night you sleep through the worst part of it. I found I had lots of headaches not bad bad ones but ones that were an annoyance. My moods were all over the map and I would say that was the hardest but I truly feel it was a combination of the med and the stress of TTC and the 2WW. I did not have any other symptoms. I have heard some ladies get hot flashes and sometimes nauseousness. BUT everyone says its way easier then Clomid for sure.

The other thing I have read and hear lots of ladies say is your CY tends to be on the shorter side BUT this is not true of everyone. I would just make sure you track it as best you can and around the time when you usually O lots and lots of BD'ing so you are covered no matter what.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

My OB told me that the clomid was so bad with me because I am over 40. My lining was almost nonexistant and I was soo sick. My DR kept asking when I was done with it as it made my blood pressure soar.

I hate how the insurance works as well. Some states do require coverage of infertility to a point, but New Hampshire is not one of them.

I will definitely keep an eye on my cy length. I think that is what gets me the most, I have 28 day cys with oing on the 14th. Can't figure why it is soo hard to get the bfp. My ob tells me it is my age, but I have 2 older children and I had trouble getting them when I was 20 yrs old. ;( All I want is to give my now DH one baby.
