Default So, Femara isn't doing the trick this time!

Hi Ladies,
I thought I would send an update.
Went to the doc yesterday for monitoring and my follies are doing a whole lot of nothing! They were doing something earlier in my cycle but the growth has now stopped. Funny how Femara worked like a charm when I had my BFP in 2004 and as a result, I really didn't expect this but clearly my body is responding very differently this time. So, I go back again tomorrow and if there is still nothing happening, she will try a couple of injections which I'm sure will help. The trick will be to not over-stimulate growth and cause hyper-stimulation which I am at complete risk for as my egg reservation is apparently sky high (something else I found out about yesterday).
The great news is that she is not encouraging surgery for septate as it is so mild and she doesn't think it will pose a risk. That was a huge relief and also means this cycle is not a bust yet!
So funny, I truly did not expect this much drama with TTC with BB#2!
I have to say again how thrilled I am for those of you with recent BFPs - it is truly inspiring and congratulations again!
I'll keep you all posted.
Kim

Kim~I am so sorry things aren't working as you had planned. I know the first month I did Femara alone I only had one 15.5mm follicle and my cycle was cancelled. The second cycle I added femara with follistim and had four mature after stimming six days with follistim and five days with femara. The thrid time I had to stim for eight days with bravelle and follistim and femara five day and ended up with SIX mature eggs. Basically what I am trying to say is every cycle is totally different. I am sure with injections it will help you get right where you need to some be with some high quality eggs! I like to call the poke and see....That is great news about not needing the surgery and you still being in the game this cycle...KUP and tons of babydust coming your way!!

Thanks so much ladies! We'll see what the doctor says tomorrow. I clearly need something more than just Femara this time which is interesting.
She also prescribed Metformin (due to my PCOS) however I have tried and tried to take that drug but just cannot as it makes me sooooo sick! Plus when I got my BFP with DS I was only on Femara - no Metformin... Perhaps that is part of the problem this time. The Meformin just kills me though and I will take anything but I just can't take that one!
I'll keep you posted!

I think sometimes it is just timing too. I wasn't closely monitored the first 11 months I was on the Femara, so I don't really know what it was/wasn't doing, but month 12 did the deed, so don't give up on it yet! I hope your doctor has some suggestions for you. Best wishes!

Hey I was just curious if you have tried to take to the Metformin ER?? Extended Release? When I first started Met. I was taking just plain Met. I was really sick all the time (stomack problems). Then he switched me from plain met to ER and it is like a totally different drug. Just thought I would ask.
Keep us posted and what the doctor says tomorrow and good luck.
*Sidenote-Since you have pcos has your doctor said anything to you about keeping on Met during pregnancy throughout the first tri? Just curious that is what my Re does, but I know that a lot of places and docs do things differently.

I am glad to hear this cycle is not out for you yet. I know how frustrating PCOS is. I myself don't tolerate the Metformin well. You should ask about the ER ones as mentoned. I am wishing you the all the best..... fingers crossed....it will happen soon I am sure!!
