S/A Results
Hi ladies,
Ok... I'm going to try not to get emotional... again. LOL. Does femara make anyone else emotional, or am I just really stressed out?
The nurse called me with dh's s/a results today. It's not so good. Well, not good at all actually. There were 27 million of the little guys, but none of them were moving. Zero motility. We had the same results about 3 years ago, but at that time, I had just started back to school and we were not pursuing infertility treatment yet. We were just trying to let nature take its course. My OBGYN at that time thought that the test results were strange, and that it might have been a faulty test, but now that we have the same results on this one, it's pretty certain that that really is what's going on.
So, our next step is to go to a Urologist. My specialist doesn't see the need for me to continue the femara and all of the monitoring until we get dh checked out because the chances of me getting pregnant are pretty much next to nothing. They're advice was to see the urologist and not give up hope, because there might be something he can do to help/fix the situation.
We aren't giving up hope. It is just so frustrating that we finally got me to ovulate and had a little bit of hope dangled in front of us, and now we're back to square one. I feel just awful for my dh, he took it pretty hard. But, after talking to him, he knows that this is not the end, and that there are hopefully still options. We also know that there is always adoption. We just want to try to have one on our own so badly.
Has anyone else come across s/a results like this before? If so, what were the next steps after seeing the urologist?
I feel like I'm full of bad news lately! Everytime I have posted lately it has been depressing! I would just ask for all of your prayers as we start down this road with the urologist that there is something he can do. Especially pray for my dh. He's pretty bummed out. I love him so much, and it breaks my heart to see him sad like this. Thank you ladies, as always, for listening and for all of your advise and words of wisdom!
Extra doses of baby dust to us all tonight!

Re: S/A Results
I am so sorry you got bad news!!! I would for sure see what the other doctor says and find out all your options. I am not very familiar what options are available for this but there are some out there I am sure. I wish you all the best and just be there for one another. IF is so hard to deal with no matter what the cause and / what side it problems falls on. We tend to be extremely hard on our selves....I am so sorry your DH is feeling so down.
Keep us posted on how you do and I hope some of the other ladies may have some advice.

Re: S/A Results
Kristen. Sorry about the bad results. I know your DH is probably really bummed. It's a male ego thing that is a very sensitive subject for most all of them. However, I've always heard that they like to check the men early on because their issues are often the easiest to correct. I hope that proves true for you guys. I don't have any answers regarding what comes next, or what treatment they might suggest to correct the problem. Have you checked the Male-Factor Infertility - SheKnows Message Boards? They may have the answers you are searching for.
On a positive note, take this time off of fertility treatments of your own as a time to just relax and not have to obsess or even think about ovulating or AF or anything. It's just a break time for your mind and body. Please stick around and keep us posted as to what you guys find out. Sending up lots of prayers on your behalf.

Re: S/A Results
Hmm I don't know much about motility but the urologist will hopefully be able to set you straight. I have always heard that the F was out of your sytem relatively quickly so I don't think it makes you emotional per se BUT ttc is stressful enough by itself and then you throw in the F which effects your hormones drastically and well you can definitely be emotinal from all of it. I know I am. I think though that you have a plan to go forward. Once you fix the problem then hopefully it will get easier. Have you done any research on the zero mobility?

Re: S/A Results
I'm sorry the testing did not bring good news, but glad to hear it is not the end of the road for you. It may take time, but it sounds like they are positive which is great. Best wishes to you both!

Re: S/A Results
It could be a varicocele and they are often correctable! Hang in there and let us know what the Urologist says.
